00:00i'm still a very new artist like not a lot of people know me i think people know me maybe from
00:03like tik tok or just instagram or just like hearing my voice on radio and stuff but they
00:11don't you guys don't actually know me for how i look like and stuff
00:14hey it's me again cat roshan thanks for tuning in this is going to be episode two
00:36actually not a lot of people know me for rasa because people are like what was your first
00:41malay song released and i was like rasta and they're like really you had a malay song and i
00:45was like yes i actually do so obviously the great pak chossy wrote it and composed it and produced
00:52it um and we shot the music video in bali so we flew to bali and this was right before covid hit
01:02well borders shut and stuff so we were there it was kind of cool because i had never really
01:09been to bali since i was maybe five so it was cool going back there and i got to surf which is
01:16which is also a big hobby of mine i love to surf if i wasn't a singer and if i wasn't maybe doing
01:21sports i would be surfing the whole day or maybe becoming a professional surfer um but yeah the
01:27creative process behind it was it was cool working with like the indonesian team but also like the
01:33indonesian um what they called the music video director so chris paloma was doing a really good
01:40job yeah obviously i released um you and rasa already and then i started writing more songs
01:58like um lost again is another song that i released right after last summer last time i was shot in
02:04langkawi so it was during the pandemic basically the pandemic gave me a lot of time to just reflect
02:11and write every single day um and i guess that's how it snowballed effect into just
02:19me producing more songs right after the one another getting listeners um then producing my
02:24own ep which caught the attention of um as you say like hits like i was like wow hits is
02:34recognizing that's so cool because i was like oh my gosh it's it's really been a dream to be on hits
02:39actually um but yeah i just just kept on writing i'm still a very new artist like not a lot of
02:47people know me i think people know me maybe from like tiktok or just instagram or just like hearing
02:55my voice on radio and stuff but they don't you guys don't actually know me for how i look like
03:00and stuff um just kind of it's kind of nice that you guys don't recognize me yet that much um but
03:08i if you want to come up to me and if you know me like come and say hi i do not buy i swear
03:14like i'm really really nice i'd love to like know your thoughts and like um my music or maybe what
03:20i can improve even in malay come and teach me some malay words honestly like that would be so
03:24helpful all right i'll let you into a little secret half of that ep was my school assignments
03:40so so i was in the pandemic i started junior year in idol arts which was in california um
03:49so i was boarding but i was doing online because all the borders were shut so i wasn't so idol
03:54world is in california which is in america um and i was doing a singer songwriting course so
04:01every week i had this um prompt to just write songs right and i was like okay why not just
04:09write and see how it goes and then i got some inputs from my course mates my my teachers
04:16and i was like oh i might as well put this into an ep since i have this many songs um
04:22and i think but the the one that stays in my heart the most is burn burn burn so but we call
04:29it burn to the power of three because it's a unique name um it's it's it's to my heart because
04:37like it's more of a country influence and and my genre which i started from was pop with the
04:44influence of country um so that's that's really like my true self coming out as a writer
05:01well personally personally um
05:05um it's because i've grown up in a in a more western background through international
05:14schools and my parents um it helped me really embrace how i was brought up or not be shy
05:24and being bold or just um dressing differently talking english more it was actually my best
05:33one of my best years in in boarding school actually um but it but being in that course really
05:42taught me to also have open-minded um ways of thinking but also acceptance of critical i mean
05:56crucial feedback from peers um open-minded in the sense that um my course was basically
06:04pop but we also had influences of jazz rock rmb so that influence of jazz has actually
06:15shaped my music in that in the chord progression way to involve more augmented diminished
06:23chords to make it more interesting instead of having the
06:27four golden chords of a normal pop song um but yeah just to also
06:35like take in the scrutiny of um other people's feedback to say like okay this is what i can
06:44but what i like i will keep so just like a balance of things
06:58edm so like i am a not many people know but i am like a big brave girl i love house
07:07no just yeah i like i've been to lalapalooza cream fuels just to see the chain smokers like i'm
07:14i'm such a big fan of edm so i would love to venture into that genre um but also like maybe
07:25maybe like musicals i don't know because like quite a lot of songs now that i write is
07:32is more musically inclined um to musicals so
07:36yeah we'll see in the future the future is very wide and open
07:49um honestly yeah i'm a rebel my current song right now that i just released i feel like
07:55that really shows like the truce not the like the true size i said as like in in my song of
08:02burn burn burn but like the true self of that i'm a rebel in that sense where i i like to be
08:08different okay i i want to show people like the true confident self that i am and venture into
08:17the more pop charlie xex kind of chain smokers kind of vibe the young self i mean yeah thank you
08:27for listening to episode two like seriously really appreciate you guys um staying till the end
08:34and yeah stay tuned for episode three
