00:00Hi there, I'm sure it will be a busy weekend with people moving about and as it happens
00:05the weather is turning increasingly unsettled. First band of rain moving through during Friday
00:11afternoon coinciding with the evening rush across the Midlands, eastern and southern
00:16England. That's accompanied by gusty winds but clearing skies for Scotland, Northern
00:22Ireland, Northern England and parts of Wales with showers following, the wind tending to
00:26ease as well. Colder air arriving into the North West but a milder afternoon there compared
00:32with Thursday afternoon in the South. Now the initial band of rain pushes through during
00:37the evening across East Anglia and the South East. It does clear then later in the evening
00:41with clear skies for a time across central and south eastern parts of the country but
00:45the next band of unsettled weather moves in by dawn. Wet and windy conditions for Scotland,
00:50Northern Ireland, Northern England as well as Wales. Some heavy bursts of rain first
00:55thing and an increasing wind. That means of course it's going to be a mild start to
01:00Saturday or at least frost free. A little colder there for the South and South East
01:05under clearer skies. Now for Saturday we've got this low moving in and tightly packed
01:10isobars particularly behind the cold front as it sweeps through. That means that actually
01:16the windiest weather will be after the main area of rains cleared. That rain pushing south
01:21quite soon during Saturday morning although it's going to linger across the south of England
01:27so some persistent rain continuing here into the afternoon. Elsewhere clearing skies so
01:32some brighter weather and frequent showers moving in. Those showers will be falling as
01:38rain, sleet and hill snow across Scotland, Northern Ireland, parts of Northern England
01:42by the end of the day because these are cold winds that are moving through and they're
01:46also increasing winds. So during the afternoon we can expect wind gusts of 50-60mph for the
01:52northern half of the UK around some exposed coasts of 70mph. But the strongest winds will
01:58be for the far north and north west of Scotland where coastal parts and hilly areas could
02:03experience wind gusts of 75-80mph. Enough to cause disruption, certainly ferry disruption
02:10for example and other issues as well, other impacts to do with winds. So a blustery old
02:17afternoon on Saturday with a mix of showers, feeling cold in the wind but also some brighter
02:24interludes as well. Now the colder air increasingly spreads across much of the country during
02:30Saturday night and that means that parts of Northern England and Wales could see some
02:35falling snow out of these showers by the start of Sunday but it does turn milder through
02:41Sunday. Sunday itself is going to be another windy day particularly in the west with once
02:46again wind gusts of 60mph in places.
