00:00I do wonder with the injury to Carson Beck, although there is time to prepare,
00:05and nobody has known that longer than the folks in Athens,
00:08how they go about getting ready for this matchup now against the Fighting Irish.
00:12Yeah, I think this is where those two games against Texas,
00:16they loom large for Georgia, they are fascinating,
00:19in that easily their two best defensive performances came against Texas.
00:25If it wasn't for Georgia being able to completely little brother Texas,
00:30the Longhorns would be like plus 120 to win the national championship, right?
00:33Yet instead we're like, I don't know what this Texas team is, right?
00:37Like it's a very fascinating thing for Georgia.
00:40That is why I push back.
00:42Look, you want to tell me Oregon's the best team?
00:44That's fine, but Oregon does not have a performance defensively
00:51anywhere near what I've seen from Georgia in their biggest moments.
00:56You know, you could make an argument, I'm not sure you'd win it,
01:00that if they didn't sweep Texas-Georgia,
01:03they might not be in the college football playoff, ultimately, right?
01:07Had they lost that game to Texas, that would have been loss number two.
01:11It would have been losses to both them and Texas.
01:13I mean, the first one I'm talking about, right?
01:16And then had they been eliminated by Texas in the SEC title game,
01:20maybe we would have got the buffoonery that people were begging for,
01:23which was to keep all the good SEC teams out,
01:25and Florida State precedent that had made no sense whatsoever.
01:29So, I guess it's just, someone the other day said to me,
01:33like, man, I'm waiting to see Kirby beat Kirby.
01:35Well, I think I've seen Kirby beat Kirby,
01:37and that is the biggest advantage that Georgia has,
01:40with respect to what Marcus Freeman, who's completely 180,
01:43to what I thought was one of the low moments a Notre Dame coach had ever had.
01:47Kirby, he's got two national titles on the belt and extra prep time.
01:53That's a lot to go through.
01:54He is the best in-game adjuster in terms of the college football playoff.
01:58If we're talking about in-game adjustments,
02:00the ability at the half or in-game to find the weakness of his offense and defense and adjust it,
02:06he's the best, and that's why he has two national championships.
02:09I'll say this, I think the Notre Dame game isn't really the telltale sign for Georgia,
02:15because, again, whether Gunner Stockton is up to par or not,
02:18I still think they could get by with the offensive-defensive lines.
02:21I think the telltale sign for Georgia will be if they get to the national championship game
02:26and they do face a team like Oregon with a mobile quarterback,
02:29because the two games they lost, Jackson, Dart, and Ole Miss,
02:32and you look at the game against Alabama with Jalen Milrow,
02:35those offenses that could spread them out and challenge them vertically.
02:38There's only one team on the other side, Tennessee, but they're inconsistent,
02:43more so Dylan Gabriel and Oregon's offense.
02:45Ohio State, if they were to reach that point with Will Howard,
02:48I know you have your hesitations about Ohio State's quarterback.
02:51I will say this from the odds perspective,
02:53nobody has a better price right now to reach the national championship game,
02:58not win that title, but reach the national championship game than Georgia at plus 178.
03:04Oregon's second-best number, Kevin, plus 186.
03:07Notre Dame not far behind the Ducks with the third-best price at plus 188.
03:12There is a thought the winner of New Year's Day's Sugar Bowl
03:16between Georgia and Notre Dame will play for a national crown.
03:20100%, and that's because of everything associated with Penn State,
03:25and it's like, oh, no, those teams are actually good,
03:27and then, like, they have no chance to win.
03:29I'll add this angle, though, and again,
03:31I'm not trying to tell you that Georgia's better off without Beck,
03:34but one thing that really resonated with me when Stockton checked in
03:37is they talked about his ability as a runner.
03:41If you're now Notre Dame, you're going into this game,
03:43oh, hey, we're preparing for Stockton.
03:45What the heck is that?
03:46Yeah.
03:47Oh, we're preparing for a quarterback power?
03:51I don't even know what's going on.
03:52Like, and we know how much—
03:54look, I know it bothers me with the injury reports and da-da-da,
03:56but we know how much, clearly, college coaches value delaying information
04:01or being able to have that leg up.
04:04Georgia has that in a big way in that game.
04:06For sure, and they've also had the time to prepare Gunner Stockton
04:09with not much in-game experience over this layup,
04:13earning that bye from winning an SEC championship.
