00:00because their quarterback question is perhaps the biggest
00:03one who was even going to be out there in just a few weeks as
00:08UGA has earned the opening round by at the very end of the
00:13opening half last week in Atlanta. Carson Beck was
00:16injured did not play a majority of the second half did hand the
00:20football off to Trevor ETN for the game winning score in
00:24overtime UCL injury to Carson Beck Joe let's start with his
00:29availability. Do you believe when the Bulldogs take on the
00:32winner of Notre Dame and Indiana, Carson Beck will be
00:35starting for Georgia?
00:36No. And again, that's the way I would cap it right on. If you're
00:39going to back Georgia in any capacity, you have to believe
00:42that Gunnar Stockton is going to be on their center for a
00:44majority of the playoffs, depending upon how long that is
00:48can't buy into the fact that the UCL is going to be good. The
00:51fact that it's just throwing arm as well. That's another factor.
00:55You know, you have to think big picture health before obviously
00:58championship in this type of situation. And it's
01:01unfortunate. Again, you know, Carson Beck had that team
01:04prepped and ready. They were within striking distance. Now
01:07from a productivity standpoint in two games against Texas,
01:10Carson Beck struggled the game number one with a one by 15. He
01:14throws for a buck 75 and three interceptions. What did he have
01:1762 at the half in terms of the sec 56 at the SEC championship?
01:23You know, yeah, I think Gunnar Stockton could be an upgrade
01:27from what we saw in the SEC championship. But the experience
01:30and what Carson Breck brings to the table for the Georgia
01:33Bulldogs, they're going to take a little bit of a hiccup. So
01:38yes, in terms of trust, and in terms of what we know about
01:43Georgia, back at the minimum has a level of pedigree. We've seen
01:47him have good games in big moments before and heading into
01:50the SEC championship game was able to have 11 touchdowns to no
01:54interceptions, right? Competition, you know, look,
01:56Tennessee, UMass, Georgia Tech, but still, he was playing clean
01:59football. That was relevant. Yeah. They also look
02:03significantly better in the second half of the first half,
02:05which Beck played in the first half and Stockton played the
02:08second half. One of the big hold, you know, kind of hold
02:11back points, I think on this Georgia team was the lack of
02:14trust that Carson Beck rallied here. So I don't know. I think
02:20what it becomes is now Georgia becomes a bit of a question
02:22mark. But I do not think that this is a situation like
02:25Florida State, which is what people were so desperate to make
02:28that comparison. And it ended up not mattering at all. But I
02:31watched Tate Rademacher. He was terrible. Then Brock Glenn, and
02:36he was also terrible. I watched Stockton. And I thought he was
02:41all right. I'm very interested in a better athlete. Ultimately,
02:45you know, he was terrible.
02:46I was 12 of 16 for 75 yards 4.4 yards per pass. I mean, look, I
02:51thought one interception critical interception, I thought
02:54the critical interception was evident of what Todd Munkin
02:58thinks about his quarterback in Gunnar Stockton and the
03:01positions to put himself in, which are not very many to
03:04elevate the offense. And then when you put him in a dangerous
03:07spot, it turns out the hesitation was correct. Now
03:11there is two and a half weeks they have already started their
03:13ball prep. Nobody knows better Carson Beck status than Kirby
03:16smart Todd Munkin in the rest of that Georgia staff in Athens,
03:20but I would be concerned if Gunnar Stockton is lining up as
03:24their starting quarterback in terms of the overall offense
03:26production for this Bulldogs team.
03:28So what I would say and listen, we can disagree. That's fine.
03:32Everyone when he threw that football. Yeah. You know, before
03:35it lands. What is it? What are they doing? My I think they
03:39trust the kid. Listen, he made a terrible throw and ultimately
03:43maybe, but for some for whatever reason, they've seen enough that
03:47they actually like Gunnar Stockton, the opening drive of
03:50the second half. Yeah, they got in the third and two. Etn had
03:53been running well right out of the gate. And it was obviously
03:56they were going to run the football in 18 yard completion
03:59there. I was like, Whoa, do you really they trust this kid a
04:01little bit? Look, they didn't let him go out there. Gunslinger
04:04McGee. That would have been insane. They're playing Texas in
04:07the SEC title game. Arguably the best defense in college football,
04:11by the way, is where he made his debut.
04:13Right? No, I just want to say this. But we're in agreement
04:16that if you're going to bet joy like people that we know what
04:19we're getting ourselves into Georgia, and we have our own
04:22opinions about where we feel Georgia stands, they're going to
04:25be going up against not just Texas that had one of the best
04:28secondaries, but assuming that Notre Dame gets this victory,
04:31again, one of the top secondaries in all the college
04:34football, right? You got to put it in your head that Stockton is
04:38going to be under center as opposed to Beck. And then if
04:41Beck is on the center, hey, it's an added benefit. Put it into
04:44your head, though, that Stockton is on the center.
04:47So a couple of things still two and a half weeks until
04:49Georgia will play in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, they will
04:52get that additional time either for rest and health for Carson
04:55Beck, or that preparation for Gunner Stockton. I was thinking
04:58Todd Monk in Ravens. It's Mike Bobo, the offensive coordinator
05:02in Athens. Now time for Bobo to instill Gunner Stockton in this
05:06offensive system. And to your point, Kev, we heard it from
05:10Kirby smart after the game. It is quick postgame interview.
05:13They believe in Gunner Stockton as a leader. And as a winner,
05:16the sophomore from Tiger, Georgia and his accolades in
05:19high school to be there and to be trusted if needed. Carson
05:24Beck, though, has had such an interesting season where he was
05:27a top five pick entering the year and then faded after that
05:32throwing 12 interceptions in five or six games entering the
05:36last three where we turned it around against Tennessee, UMass
05:40and Georgia Tech averaging 314 yards, 11 touchdowns to zero
05:45INTs in that three game run. Obviously, in my estimation,
05:49Carson Beck elevates this Georgia team to a national
05:52championship caliber. We'll see though, with the preparation
05:55time for Gunner Stockton.
