The keep and manor house of Saint-Léon-sur-Vétère, listed since 1957, are a rare example of the 14th century thanks to the exemplary restoration work.

A magnificent residence, a typical Périgord noble house with its 12th-century tower, which has survived the centuries from the Middle Ages to the present day. It will open its doors to the public for the first time in 2021.

00:00Just a stone's throw away from our campground we find the village of Saint-Léon-sur-Vezier,

00:29Just off the village road stands the magnificent estate, a manor house which is typical in

00:42It is a historical monument and, thanks to the exemplary restoration carried out by its
00:46owners since the 1970s, a rare testimony of the 15th century.
00:53Like so often in old buildings in this area that have survived the centuries, it seems
00:57that the old residents just left to return right away.
01:14The great hall of the mansion is the social center of the house and has a remarkable fireplace,
01:18wall hangings and a rich historical furniture.
01:42A visit here completes the walk through the old village down to the river, before returning
01:46to the campground invigorated in one of the numerous and good restaurants.
