00:00We are now reporting live from Baguio, Romina, with Ms. Lori de la Cruz, weather specialist from Pagasa. Good morning, Ms. Lori.
00:10Good morning, Mr. Andrew and our fellow countrymen.
00:13Why did we give the local limit to Baguio, which is not yet in the PAR? Is this the first time that Pagasa has done this?
00:22Sir, this is not the first time. This happened during the time of Yolanda wherein the PAR is still outside.
00:29It is still approaching our area of responsibility.
00:32We assigned a local name to her because during the time, due to her speed and strength, we will be short of lead time.
00:41So we extended the warning. So this happened during the time of Yolanda.
00:45Although now, in the case of Tropical Depression Romina, this is the first time that we assigned a name, a local name, that did not enter our area of responsibility.
00:57But the reason why we gave a local name is because we issued a signal. We issued signal number 1 to Kalayaan Islands and the southern portion of Palau.
01:10Is it true that Tropical Depression Romina came from the low-pressure area of Baguio-Caribbean?
01:17Actually, no. Baguio-Caribbean became LPA and that LPA dissipated or melted near the Mindanao area.
01:28And then it formed a vortex outside our area of responsibility that became Tropical Depression Romina.
01:35What do we see as the possible cause of Tropical Depression Romina?
01:39As of now, it is actually moving away. We issued a final bulletin as of 5 a.m.
01:45So this means that this will not have a direct effect on us in terms of wind or air.
01:51What we can see as an effect is that this trough is causing floods in Palawan province.
01:58Ms. Lore, this is the question of our fellow Filipinos who are celebrating Christmas.
02:01Which places in the country will be affected by Tropical Depression Romina?
02:06Well, as I mentioned, Tropical Depression Romina will not affect us as of now.
02:10We issued a final bulletin as of 5 a.m.
02:14But this Christmas, there are still many provinces that we expect to experience floods, particularly here in Southern Luzon.
02:22So, Bicol Region, some parts of Eastern Visayas, Calabar Zone, Central Luzon,
02:30and here in Metro Manila, there is a high chance of floods during Christmas.
02:35So, we will monitor the updates of the forecast and the possible heavy rainfall warnings.
02:41As well as in Mimaropa, floods are also possible.
02:45Ms. Lore, after Tropical Depression Romina, have we seen any more that will enter the PAR?
02:52So far in our projection, there is a low chance of floods.
02:59But then, our advice is to monitor the updates in case there are significant changes.
03:05Thank you very much. Good morning, Ms. Lore de la Cruz, weather specialist from Pagasa.
