00:00TV weathermen and women are trained to handle all kinds of inclement situations, but what
00:05about a spider on a weather cam?
00:07Or a wisecracking co-anchor?
00:08Get your umbrella ready, because these are the meteorologists who lost it on live TV.
00:13In May 2019, a tornado shredded the streets of Dayton, Ohio.
00:18Luckily, locals can't say the alarms weren't sounding, according to Newsweek, thanks to
00:22Fox 45's weatherman Jamie Simpson.
00:24"...all this heavy rain is between you and the tornado."
00:28But not everyone was happy about it.
00:30Simpson's live report, made several hours before the tornadoes rushed through, cut in
00:34on an airing of The Bachelorette.
00:35"...I was just checking social media, we have viewers complaining already.
00:39Just go back to the show.
00:40No, we're not going back to the show, folks."
00:42Rather than ignore the social media fire, Simpson flipped out.
00:46"...I'm sick and tired of people complaining about this.
00:49Our job here is to keep people safe, and that is what we're gonna do."
00:53The tornado ended up claiming one life, destroying a large part of central Ohio, and injuring
00:5812, according to Today.
01:00When Simpson's clip went viral, Dayton locals praised him for his dedication.
01:03"...Somebody who complained that this is all about my ego?
01:06Stop, okay?
01:08Just stop right now.
01:09It's not."
01:11Back in 2005, CNN weather reporter Chad Myers was explaining the situation surrounding Hurricane
01:16Katrina.
01:17But when anchor Carol Costello kept asking him to speak in words the average viewer could
01:21understand, Myers hulked out.
01:23"...Chad, Chad, Chad."
01:24"...but Camille, but Camille."
01:25"...Chad."
01:26"...Let me talk, Carol."
01:27"...Translate that for us."
01:28Evidently, Myers didn't like the situation.
01:30"...What do you mean?"
01:31"...Well, if you would let me talk."
01:32By the end, Myers smiled and claimed that he was just having fun, but it sure didn't
01:36look like it.
01:37"...Alright, thank you, Chad."
01:38"...Alright, just having fun with you this morning."
01:41A lot of people find the mere sight of a spider too much to bear, including Global News meteorologist
01:45Christy Gordon, who freaked out on live TV when a giant arachnid was projected right
01:50over her head.
01:51"...Oh my gosh, that was creepy!"
01:55As you can imagine, her co-workers erupted in hysterical delight.
01:58"...Ahhh!"
01:59"...Come on!"
02:00"...No, I hate it, I can't stand it!"
02:06Although she was clearly a good sport, it took her a moment to shake off the heebie-jeebies.
02:09"...Okay."
02:10"...Oh my gosh, okay."
02:11"...Seriously?"
02:12"...I am so sorry."
02:17Back when everybody was bonding over the miserable 2018 cold snap, Grand Rapids meteorologist
02:23Gary Frank was clearly tired of everyone complaining, according to The Detroit News.
02:27After reporting day in and day out on Antarctic-style conditions, Frank finally snapped.
02:32"...Well, because you guys are dragging me down.
02:34You guys keep… every time I get done with the seven day, you guys are like, oh, gosh.
02:42It doesn't matter what time I come on, 4.30, 5.30, 6.30, and then you expect me to be chipper
02:49for five straight hours."
02:51To be honest, that does sound like a horrible gig.
02:54"...Here's a 60, I don't know if that's good enough for you guys.
02:58Get excited, maybe I'll disappoint you with a seven day here in a few minutes."
03:01CNN reported on WITI-TV's Angelica Duria, who got stuck standing in a Milwaukee snowstorm
03:07for an entire morning, reporting on weather that clearly wasn't going to improve.
03:12But as the lunch hour finally approached, Duria's good spirits melted away and she finally
03:16lit up the screen.
03:17"...I have been here since, what, 3.30 this morning.
03:20I'm exhausted.
03:21I've run out of things to say, it is snowing, and it sucks here."
03:25Not surprisingly, everyone back in the studio applauded.
03:28"...Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Rio, Milwaukee!"
03:32Australian weather reporter Steve Jacobs once met a curious pelican named Marnie while reporting
03:37from the zoo.
03:39Whaaaaa!
03:42Aaaaah!
03:44Blaaaah!
03:45To be fair to Marnie, the pelican's pecking attack seemed more playful than aggressive,
03:50but that didn't make it any less hilarious.
03:52I gotta be mentally strong!
03:56Even Jacobs couldn't stop laughing.
03:58I gotta sit down!
04:00Whew!
04:01Whenever animals attack, there's a beauty never expected!
04:03And my butt is taking off.
04:07In 2017, Fox 2 weather reporter Derek Kevra got so infuriated by people who didn't properly
04:13clean the snow off their cars that he filmed an entire sequence explaining how to do it.
04:17"...this must be a really hard concept for people to understand."
04:20Kevra proceeded to sarcastically demonstrate how to use a snow brush and ice scraper.
04:25"...you're gonna begin with a generic left-to-right swipe.
04:29Then a couple inches below that, you'll swipe back.
04:33And it's this scientific swiping motion that you will use not only on the sides, but the
04:37back and all the way around, 360 degrees."
04:42The raging fury is so clear that it paints a magnificent portrait of what happens when
04:46you finally push a weatherman to bar.
04:48"...now I know, I know, it seems like a lot, but I promise if you follow those simple steps,
04:55you too will be able to clear the snow off of your car."
05:00If you're Boston's Weather Channel meteorologist James Cantori, the most glorious weather phenomenon
05:05of all is when lightning strikes during a snowstorm.
05:08During a televised segment in 2015, Cantori got so psyched about this bizarre phenomenon
05:12that he screamed,
05:13"...oh yes!
05:14Yes!
05:15Yes!
05:16We got it, baby!"
05:18According to the Washington Post, Cantori is well-known throughout the weather community
05:21for his passion for so-called thundersnow.
05:24Cantori told the Boston Globe it's, quote, "...kind of like two seasons coming together."
05:29"...we got it!
05:30Yes!
05:31Listen to that!
05:32Listen to that!
05:33Oh baby!"
05:36For his sake, and the sake of his fans, hopefully another rocking thundersnow happens again
05:40soon.
05:41Back in 2010, according to the BBC, weatherman Thomas Schaffernacker got caught in a rather
05:47awkward snafu when cameras switched over a second too fast, revealing him brandishing
05:51a prominent middle finger.
05:52"...all the detail you could possibly want, I've just seen Thomas Schaffernacker preparing
05:57for it, so I'm not entirely..."
06:00Schaffernacker tried to cover it up, but no one was convinced.
06:03"...every now and then there's always one mistake.
06:06That was it."
06:07A spokesman for the BBC quickly issued an apology, but this wasn't the first time that
06:11Schaffernacker's sense of humor got him into trouble.
06:13He previously had to apologize for calling a region, quote, "...nowheresville," during
06:17a 2007 segment, and in 2009, he accidentally mispronounced the phrase, "...muddy sight,"
06:23as a swear word.
