00:00In El Salvador, ruling deputies passed, on Monday, a new mining law that approves mining exploitation, which was banned since 2017.
00:08Social and environmental organizations gathered in front of the Legislative Assembly to show their rejection of the mining law,
00:14and also pointed out environmental and social risk for the population.
00:18Protesters assured that they would continue with the demonstrations as pressure on the government to express their dissatisfaction.
00:25The decision was made despite protests from the Council of the University of El Salvador,
00:30which has expressed its concern about the environmental impact that the reactivation of metallic mining would generate in the country.
