00:00I'm here at Tasmania's largest Christmas Day charity lunch in Hobart, where over 600 people
00:07have gathered to celebrate and enjoy a traditional Christmas meal together.
00:11The event is organised by community service provider Homebase, which has run the event
00:16for more than 40 years.
00:18This year is the organisation's biggest ever, hosted in the Hanging Garden in Hobart.
00:24Lots of children, lots of elderly people, single parents that come together that may
00:30not have anywhere else to go, so it really brings a sense of connection and I mean have
00:37a look around the venue and just see the joy on people's faces.
00:41The event is supported by local businesses, community donations and dozens of volunteers
00:46serving a traditional Christmas feast for those in need.
00:49There's so many people doing it tough and to be able to avail ourselves of this, well
00:56yeah, it's great.
00:58Absolutely great, they've all been really grateful and really fun and I love it.
01:04Yeah, it's been wonderful, I'd love to do it again.
01:06The man in red himself was also in attendance, delivering gifts to children and adults alike,
01:12bringing together the Hobart community to enjoy a companionship, festivities and some
01:16good old fashioned Christmas food.
