00:00After the celebration of Christmas, passengers are in a hurry for the celebration of the new year.

00:07The PITX is preparing to go ahead.

00:10The MMDA and NLEX are ready for the expected arrival of motorists on the same day of the long weekend.

00:17This is Bernard Perez de Sandro with the news.

00:21The Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, or PITX, is preparing for travelers this new year.

00:28According to the PITX, up to 1.8 million passengers are expected to return to the provinces for the exchange of the year.

00:37This is higher compared to the 1.2 million passengers who returned this December 20-25 for Christmas.

00:45As for the places they are keeping an eye on, they are returning to Bicol, Mindoro, and Baguio.

00:50The usual advance booking is for Bicol region.

00:55However, we still have a lot of available trips.

00:59The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, or MMDA, also deployed people to help in the traffic.

01:05The clearing operations are also underway to speed up the passage of travelers.

01:09The MMDA is keeping an eye on the places around the bus terminals in PITX Paranaque and Cubao, Quezon City.

01:17We're looking at around this Friday, right?

01:19Because our holidays are short.

01:21Our expected volume or traffic will be this coming weekend.

01:26Even though the North Luzon Expressway or NLEX is also preparing,

01:29motorists are expected to descend from tomorrow until Saturday, along with the long weekend.

01:34We expect to descend to around 10% of our volume for the day, our daily average volume.

01:45Motorists are asking to go to the terminals early.

01:48It's also good if the vehicle is in good condition, especially the private motorists, to avoid traffic accidents.
