00:00A battle of big twelve foes, but in the Alamo Bowl, which is
00:10always a game circled in ball season because of the teams
00:14that will play in the outlook for the season following. It is
00:18Colorado and BYU today in San Antonio where the buffs will
00:24have both Shannor Sanders and Travis Hunter in this football
00:28game and because of it, Lacey Guy, Colorado booked is a
00:31three and a half point. Yeah, it could be a fast track right
00:34Alamo Bowl is always typically a high scoring game. Yeah. Both
00:37teams averaging well over 30 points per game. Colorado,
00:40which your door Sanders averaging 327 passing yards
00:44per game. They don't run it all that much 70 yards per game
00:47heading into this match up more balance on BYU. They're
00:50averaging 159 on the ground with LJ Martin 258 through the
00:54air and this was potentially a big twelve championship in the
00:58making right around week fourteen. They were on a
01:01collision course to potentially be in the big twelve
01:03championship. I expect fireworks in this match up. I
01:06think Colorado will we, but I still believe BYU can run the
01:10football on that front seven of Colorado camp. They're giving
01:13up around 140 rushing yards per game. I expect a big day out of
01:17LJ Martin this game. I think sales through the total, but I
01:20like BYU with the points. Yeah right now you have more threes
01:23and three and a half on the market that certainly could be
01:27a key factor. I played Colorado laying the three points. I
01:30think this is a situation of out of sight out of mind had
01:33these teams played at the back end of the big twelve season.
01:35I think this is a much bigger number BYU were viewed as one
01:38of the frauds of the sport. Quite frankly, I'm not a bit
01:42like that's by the odds makers perspective for sure. Yeah,
01:45right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's every single game people look
01:48wow that BYU numbers too low and then oh wow they just
01:51barely escaped and then eventually you know it came due
01:55now the Kansas team that kind of stopped the BYU train
01:58ultimately stopped the Colorado one as well. The difference
02:01though being Colorado was on the road and BYU was I mean
02:05almost a home dog at that point to a sub 500 Jayhawks team
02:09that ultimately didn't even end up finishing bowl eligible,
02:13but this is also a battle right now between the best pass
02:15offense within this league and the best pass defense in the
02:18big twelve. It's very interesting to have that type
02:20of situation where we're going conference on conference here.
02:23Well, if you look at the elite pass offenses within the big
02:27twelve two of the final three games for BYU came against two
02:31of the better pass offenses in this league in Jalen Daniels
02:34and Sam Leavitt Arizona State and K State combined those
02:38quarterbacks 9.5 yards per attempt. Shooter Sanders is not
02:43here to do anything other than like this team on fire. I'll be
02:47looking for Shooter Sanders props, but I do. I think the
02:50nature of Colorado showing up with their guys in this game
02:53is why I'm laying it with Colorado. Not only a big twelve
02:56battle as you said, Kev both teams had their season up ended
02:59in a way by those pesky Kansas Jayhawks who salvaged a
03:03disappointing season by playing spoiler to many in the big twelve
03:07championship race, but a top twenty-five tilt as well. The
03:11Cougs ranked seventeenth in the final college football
03:13playoff top twenty-five CU still in that top twenty-five as
03:17well at number twenty-three six of the last eight full college
03:21football seasons. We have seen a top twenty-five tilt in the
03:24Alamo Bowl. It's why it's one of the best games each and every
03:28bowl season and it often projects for the year following
03:31for instance in the 2022 Alamo Bowl. It was Texas and
03:36Washington two teams that went on to play in the college
03:39football playoff the year following and for CU Kev this
03:43game has its importance. It's rather shocking. In fact that
03:47we are going to see two top five picks this coming April in
03:50the 2025 NFL draft, both playing in this football game
03:54in Sanders, who is a minus 200 favorite to go first overall in
03:58the Heisman Trophy winner in Travis Hunter, but I think it
04:02speaks to what Deion Sanders has done in this rebuild in
04:06Boulder in the fact that CU is seeking its first bowl victory
04:09since 2004. How is Deion Sanders anything other than like
04:13the greatest gift to college football? How is he not
04:16everything that everybody could ever possibly want? We have
04:19seen bowl season right take hit after hit with playoffs and
04:24NIL or whatever everything that everybody blames it on. He has
04:28two guys that could go off the board one and two potentially
04:31and he's like, yeah, we're playing. We're all good here.
04:33We're ready to rock. I mean that is remarkable to to to
04:39think about that and yes for Deion. This is a very unique
04:43situation, right? I mean Shador is his son and Travis Hunter is
04:49like a son. He was playing at Jackson State, right? But Deion
04:54is doing he is setting the standard. He is setting a
04:57standard at Colorado and I think it is one that I am sure
05:02some teams some programs are going to try and say, hey
05:05listen you want to opt out. That's all you, but Shador
05:08Sanders is playing like I'm not sure Lacey Sanders showing up
05:12to this game isn't a part of the reason we're going to break
05:14down Cam Ward playing for Miami later today against Iowa State.
05:18No, it's a great point. He's done a fantastic job. I mean
05:20just think about first season. He over exceeds expectations
05:24four wins. The win total was three and a half right. He's
05:27doubled that he has the potential now to have his first
05:29bow win under his belt and that's what you want to see
05:32year over year progression. The one thing I am a little
05:36concerned about is the time off and I know I know Travis
05:40Hunter's geared up. I know Shador is geared up, but there's
05:43twenty-two players on that team when you have a train in
05:46motion, you don't want to disrupt that and to be honest
05:50the three and a half. I was a little shocked at that line was
05:53as low as it was because I do feel Colorado has a speed
05:57advantage, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
06:00I thought it would be more four and a half five in that area to
06:03see three and a half is a little head scratching and the
06:05way that defense performed, especially in the front seven
06:08last year, they gave up almost 200 yards rushing per game this
06:12year. They were down into the area of 148. That's where I
06:15think from a physicality perspective, if they're not
06:18into it in terms of the first half, maybe BYU can have
06:22success on the ground with Retzlaff and LJ Morton as it
06:25relates to the rushing attack.
