00:00It's been a harrowing scene this morning.
00:04As you can see over my right shoulder here, still police are set up hours after the shooting
00:09was first reported to emergency services at 10 to 7pm last night.
00:14There were reports of gunshots being fired and it was there that paramedics discovered
00:18the man with gunshot wounds.
00:20Now despite their attempts to save his life, they were unable to and he died at the scene.
00:25It's been a harrowing scene as I already mentioned, but it's also one that's distressed
00:29people who live in the neighbourhood.
00:31Some here who say while it is a busy street for traffic, typically Canley Heights in southwest
00:36Sydney doesn't have many incidents and certainly they haven't ever seen police of this extent
00:42here in their presence.
00:44Here's a couple of people we spoke to this morning.
00:47When he was running outside he stand there at the opposite lane and when he look on the
00:54left he saw someone lay down on the ground.
00:59He think the man was still moving at that time so they carry him up to the ambulance
01:05but after maybe around 30 minutes they bring him back down.
01:10Now we will hear from police later today Dan, however what is already a part of the investigation
01:16and the enquiry is the presence of a vehicle discovered in Wakeley, 2km from where I'm
01:21standing right now.
01:22It was set ablaze and torched.
01:24It had to be extinguished by authorities overnight and they do believe that vehicle is linked
01:29to this incident.
01:30Now, more will be revealed at 11am local time here so in just under an hour where police
01:35at Cabramatta police station will stand up and take questions on this shooting, indeed
01:40whether or not they believe it was a targeted incident or something else entirely.
01:45One thing that has become apparent is that this method of a car nearby being set ablaze
01:50has been associated with a series of not only targeted shootings but also indicative
01:56of organised crime or gangland killings.
01:58We don't know if that's the case yet but we do know that no one has been arrested so whoever
02:03was responsible for this shooting is still at large and that furthermore that no one
02:08else at this scene was hurt but for now locals reckoning with what is still a police investigation
02:14ongoing involving forensics, dog squads, detectives and general duties officers this morning Dan.
