The start of a new year is a time when many set fresh goals and ambitions. In Birmingham, we asked residents about their resolutions for 2025 and what they're hoping to achieve in the months ahead.

00:00Well, no, I don't do New Year's resolutions, no.
00:05I always think New Year's Eve, it's a bit of an arbitrary time to decide to do something.
00:10You can decide any time, can't you, if you want to make a change.
00:13I did drive February last year, because it's shorter than January as well, and lost some
00:19weight in February, but no, I've never seen why January the 1st is such a special day
00:25in that respect.
00:27So I do have a couple of New Year's resolutions, mainly it's about focusing more on myself,
00:33self-improvement, etc, etc, no, pretty cliche.
00:36And also just growing the business, which I've grown for the last two years, and continue
00:41doing that.
00:42Normally I do stick to my resolutions, I don't make them too ambitious, I make them achievable.
00:48I always try and have a professional one, so I try and say that I'd like a promotion
00:53in the new year, or specifically, professionally, I'll be like, I want to get a client meeting
01:01sorted and things like that.
01:02And then personally, everyone says go to the gym, I've got a gym membership and with Christmas
01:09it's always so busy, I don't go as much, so I try and say go three times a week.
01:13I've kind of got a bit more need to get my uni work in before it's due, because I had
01:20that issue last year and it's a bit, yeah, but I think, and I'm kind of with you on that,
01:24if I'm going to change it, I can change it throughout the year, so I don't really need
01:26to change it now, because I can just do it whenever, but yeah.
01:32Yeah, we think it's good when we help homeless people, because we have a lot of homeless
01:37people in Birmingham, so I think this is important now.
01:41Yeah, I think people like New Year's resolutions, but I don't think they stick to them after
01:47January.
01:48I haven't got anything planned for New Year's moving forward, yeah.
01:53But smoking?
01:54Smoking.
01:55Eat less?
01:56Nothing.
