00:00Manchester United are not expected to make any major signings across the January transfer window, with finances tight at Old Trafford and player sales set to be prioritised ahead of any new arrivals.
00:15Reuben Amreim spoke to the press following Manchester United's defeat to Newcastle earlier in the week and he reiterated that player sales would have to be the priority. He said we don't have that possibility in January of signing new players. You know the situation better than I do. It's not the case I'm not arriving here and I can spend a lot of money changing all the team. You know the situation so it's no point talking about it.
00:40United of course are entertaining offers for Marcus Rashford, the one-two-way striker who has not been involved across their last five matches. Now he was on the bench against Newcastle but was an unused substitute. Again Amreim played that one down and you know he's not match fit was more the reason why they said he didn't come onto the pitch in the end.
01:00But Winston United would be open to offers for Marcus Rashford as well as just about every first team member in the January transfer window. United are not in a position where they can really turn any approaches down if they are appropriate. United have to try and balance the books. They need to get rid of some of those players who have high transfer valuations and also hefty wage demands. Someone like Casemiro who is reportedly a target for Saudi Arabian clubs in the January window as well.
01:29But it remains to be seen whether a move will be forthcoming for him. Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are two of the five players out of contract at the end of the season. January would be a last probable opportunity for United to cash in on them other than having to offer them new deals. Harry Maguire and Ahmad are both also out of contract but United are expected to at least trigger their one-year extensions to keep them at the club a little longer.
01:55Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton as well could leave at the end of the season when their deals expire but no real rush to resolve those futures right now.
02:05We expect player exits to be the priority. A number of youth players as well will be loaned out. There will be a story on that on Manchester World. Harry Amas and Dan Gore, the two youngsters being prioritised for loan exits at this moment in time.
02:20In terms of new arrivals then, well most likely it will be loans or free agents just due to the fact United don't have any money effectively starting with no budget whatsoever. That could be enhanced. Can you enhance it from nothing anyway?
02:36As long as they sell those players some of that money could be put back into a transfer kitty but it remains to be seen whether or not United will back Ruben Amorim with new signs in January anyway. Or whether they'll just look to tide things over until the summer and then re-evaluate once they get there.
02:53But right now expect loans and transfers at the very most. The likes of Juveg Horst, Sergio Reguilon, Marcel Sibitza, Ojo Nogalo. Those sort of deals that we've seen in recent years. United looking for short term fixes and additional bodies just to tide them through to the end of the campaign. Hopefully, no joking now, avoid relegation from the Premier League.
03:13Ruben Amorim is believed to be prioritised in the addition of a new left sided wing back. Someone like Ben Chilwell at Chelsea could be an option, a short term option on loan. Maybe even Sergio Reguilon again, he's out of favour at Tottenham. Could he come in for the remainder of the season?
03:30And he'd also like to add another attacking option if possible, whether that's a striker or an attacking midfielder. Those options again are difficult to envisage right now. Someone like Randall Colomwane at PSG could be an option on loan but his wage demands could make things problematic as well. So all in all, don't expect much from Manchester United in the January window. Player sales and loan exits being prioritised, it would be a shock if United signed anyone permanently.
