00:00So, we met at a Halloween party many, many, many years ago
00:04where Dylan was dressed as, like, do you know Jolly the Grin Giant?
00:07Like, I think he's the fiend.
00:08I was a wood elf.
00:10Thank you so much for doing this interview with me.
00:13I mean, you're in London right now.
00:15What's your favorite part of being in London?
00:17Ooh.
00:18The Guinness and pub culture is my favorite.
00:22It's just the best.
00:24And I have a lot of friends here, so that's my personal favorite.
00:27And Warhammer, of course.
00:28Warhammer 40K is the best, so.
00:31I liked the Heinz-baked beans.
00:35Beans for breakfast.
00:36I love that about England.
00:38Beans any time of the day, you mean?
00:39Like, you can put beans on anything.
00:41That's right.
00:41I love that about England.
00:43I love how everything's a pudding.
00:44Have you noticed that?
00:45Everything's a pudding, yeah.
00:46Like, pudding has, like, no real, like, hard definition here.
00:50Like, it's awesome.
00:51So, beautiful disaster.
00:53I mean, a book turned into a movie.
00:56What made you guys want to be a part of turning this book into a movie?
01:00Well, I wasn't familiar with the book beforehand,
01:03so actually, when I read the script and then auditioned for the project,
01:06it was untitled Roger Cummell Project.
01:09Roger's our director.
01:10So I didn't know until after I got the job
01:12that it was a book that was being turned into a movie.
01:14But what attracted me about the script personally
01:17was that it was so much more than a romance.
01:19There's so much action involved.
01:20It's really sexy.
01:22It's really funny, and I was certainly not
01:24expecting it to be as funny as it is.
01:25So, all of those things together were what attracted me to the project.
01:29Abby. My name is Abby.
01:31Travis. Travis Maddox.
01:35Does that move really work?
01:37No, not a single time.
01:38But it is sincere.
01:40You're not my type.
01:42I'm everybody's type.
01:43When I read it, I just, the words just blasted off the page.
01:47They were like, it was a very electric script.
01:49And I also saw it as a challenge to myself physically,
01:53which I was interested in doing.
01:55It was a lot of training and it was pretty tough in that regard.
01:58But it's something that I was a little uncomfortable with
02:00and I'd never done before.
02:01So I thought that I would rise to the challenge and give it a try.
02:05You look like you did a great job.
02:08I had a lot of help.
02:09It takes a village. I'll say that.
02:12How long do you train for?
02:13Well, we had about four months lead time to train.
02:16So I did a lighter version of the training out in L.A.
02:19And then when we got to Bulgaria,
02:22I trained for two hours of boxing and two hours of bodybuilding every day.
02:27So it was four hours in total daily for about a month.
02:30And that was pretty intense, as you can imagine.
02:33Yeah, that's awesome.
02:34I love boxing.
02:35So I imagine it could have been fun also.
02:38Also talk about preparing.
02:40Your on-screen chemistry just comes through the screens.
02:43It really does.
02:44Did you guys do anything to prepare for that?
02:46Did that come naturally for you?
02:49Well, what was so funny is that we've actually known each other for a long time.
02:52So we met at a Halloween party many, many, many years ago
02:56where Dylan was dressed as like, do you know Jolly the Green Giant?
02:59Like, I think he's the face.
03:00I was a wood elf.
03:02No, you were like the face of corn, like Jolly the Green Giant.
03:05I was the face of corn.
03:09I was the spokesperson for corn everywhere.
03:12I'm pretty sure.
03:14But we met at this Halloween party.
03:15He witnessed me do my first and only keg stand.
03:19And kind of from then on, we we didn't see each other for a long time
03:22and we reunited on this and we became fast friends.
03:25And there's a lot of trust and professionalism between the two of us
03:29that just makes it easy and makes that chemistry feel organic.
03:33Yeah, we have a lot of we have similar taste in humor, I'll say.
03:37So that always makes it easier, too, if you can joke around.
03:40Were there any like funny moments in any of those heated scenes
03:44where you're just like, no, this is not happening right now?
03:46Maybe burst out laughing or something like that.
03:49I mean, in the heated scenes, not necessarily
03:52because we had a really wonderful intimacy coordinator named Corinne Evans,
03:56and she was helping us guide through the process of all of that.
04:01And that, I think, is just like a wonderful step in the industry
04:04that's happened in kind of the last 15 years.
04:07But the movie is pretty comical and our director is a funny guy.
04:11So there's plenty of improv moments.
04:14And we definitely I think I can speak for the two of us,
04:17but we felt like we were given enough space to be as funny
04:20as we needed to be inside of the scene.
04:21And Dylan, I actually just recently watched an interview
04:25with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler for their new murder mystery, too.
04:29And they were like, you know, Dylan and Cole are 30 years old now
04:33and they were completely floored.
04:35They're like, oh, my God.
04:36So, I mean, you've been you've been acting for 30 years
04:39since you were a baby.
04:41Who's been your favorite, I guess, big actor in Hollywood to work with so far?
04:45Besides Virginia Gardner.
04:48Besides, yeah, you weren't on the list, don't worry.
04:52Look, I've been super blessed in my career as to work with
04:58a lot of actors, and I've never had a bad encounter
05:01with like any one of them, truly.
05:03And I mean, that's rare because I'm sure some people would just say that.
05:07But I really haven't.
05:08But I also think just just as much as some of the big actors, I would say
05:13I've had equally wonderful experiences with actors
05:16who maybe don't get as much recognition and are consummate professionals
05:20and show up on time and are funny as heck.
05:23But I mean, if I had to mention Adam is a gem.
05:26And he I saw him in Paris, which I think you mentioned in that interview.
05:30And it was still after all this time.
05:34He knew me by my face as opposed to my brother.
05:39That's cool.
05:39And he could recognize the difference between a he's got.
05:42I think he's got like the most interesting brain when it comes to that,
05:45because I've never seen him, no matter how small an interaction,
05:49forget somebody's name.
05:50That's incredible.
05:51Which is just a major talent.
05:53So, yeah, yeah, he's high up there.
05:56Well, congratulations on the movie again.
05:58And thank you so much for the interview.
06:00Thank you so much. Have a great day.
06:08Just like this.
