00:00More than 12 hours after police first attended this scene, an active crime scene is still
00:07underway as you can see.
00:09Police looking to speak to people who lived within this apartment building where a 39
00:13year old woman fell from a balcony.
00:15Now it's understood at this stage that the residence was actually a 40 year old male's
00:19apartment who the woman is believed to have been at one stage the partner of, however
00:24police are examining whether or not the two were still in a relationship at the point
00:28in time of the incident.
00:30Already what has emerged is that there was a first call to police that was akin to a
00:34pocket dial or at least a call to police where only background noise was heard, no one speaking
00:40down the line to police.
00:42Police called back the number twice and were eventually able to speak with that 40 year
00:46old male over the phone.
00:47At this stage it's not entirely clear whether or not the phone was his or someone else's.
00:52During that call police confirmed they were likely to attend the apartment soon, however
00:57it wasn't until two hours later when another call was made to police, this time from someone
01:02on this street here who saw the 39 year old woman hanging from the balcony that she later
01:07fell from that police would attend.
01:10After they attended they found the woman with critical injuries and emergency services applied
01:14CPR and other life saving care, however were unable to revive her and she died at the scene.
01:21Since then the 40 year old man has been assisting police with their inquiries, however no charges
01:26have been laid.
01:27For now though the death does remain under investigation.
01:31I can indicate that there was an ABO in place.
01:36Well protecting the man.
01:38Well whilst the formal identification is yet to be made there was an ADVO in place where
01:43the male was listed as the person in need of protection.
01:47One resident who spoke to the ABC described the shock at the incident that has occurred
01:52at this residence.
01:54After seeing the situation, even though I can't believe I saw them, he was doing CPR
01:58and not breathing, I didn't come into my mind like what's happening there.
02:04Well after two minutes or like due process that someone has fallen down and he was doing
02:09CPR for the girl.
02:11Police have used a range of techniques to survey the crime scene including forensic
02:15officers, detectives as well as aerial imaging of the area and its surrounds.
02:20They're also now speaking to people who lived within the apartment complex and are calling
02:24for anyone who may have information that could be useful to the investigation to get
02:28in touch with police.
