00:00Arson chemists and forensics are combing through the wreckage of that caravan that the fire
00:06started in last night and claimed the life of that three-year-old boy in bought here
00:10in North Central Victoria.
00:13Emergency services arrived to the scene at just before six last night and got to work.
00:19Police say they don't expect to know the cause of the fire for some time, but they do believe
00:24the boy was asleep inside the caravan when it caught fire.
00:28Officers have told us this morning that at first they saw smoke coming from the caravan
00:33and didn't think too much of it, but then they saw a big fire and it's been really tragic
00:38for them to understand that a three-year-old boy's life was claimed at that time.
00:44Bought is a holiday spot.
00:45Usually it's a small, thriving rural country town, but at this time of the year it comes
00:49to life.
00:50As you can see behind me, we have the lake here and so you've got skiers and swimmers
00:53enjoying that and water sports at this time of the year.
00:57The CEO of the local hospital, Donna Doyle, spoke to us a little time ago.
01:01She's a friend of the family and she told us how the community is wrapping themselves
01:05around the family at this time.
01:07It's just an unimaginable tragedy and the family are totally devastated and wrapping
01:13each other up in love and support at this time, but ask that you respect their privacy
01:19while they process everything that's happened in the last 24 hours.
01:26So Mel, again as you just heard there, the tragedy has really affected the community.
01:31The arson chemists are on scene as I said before, but really what this is is a tragedy
01:36for a small community that at this time of the year is thriving.
