A nine-year-old boy has died in an overnight fire in Toowoomba, in south-east Queensland. Six people were able to escape three of them have life threatening injuries. The fire is being treated as suspicious with a woman now under police guard in hospital.

00:24A nine-year-old boy's body was found inside the burnt-out home.
00:27Our hearts go out to the Toowoomba community at this time and the family and friends of the persons involved.

00:37Two girls aged four and seven were flown to the Queensland Children's Hospital in a critical condition.
00:43A 36-year-old woman is under police guard at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, which is also critical.
00:49Two men aged 34 and 18 and 11-year-old boy are in stable conditions in the Toowoomba Hospital.
00:55Police are treating the fire as suspicious and are trying to determine the cause.

01:04It will be a meticulous investigation, utilising all resources available to us to be able to ensure that we're able to provide an accurate picture of what's occurred.
01:13Officers are yet to speak to those involved.
01:16At this stage, the priority is for all persons to receive medical treatment that they require.
01:21Police are not searching for anyone else in relation to the blaze.
01:25They're urging anyone with information to come forward.
01:29The home remains a crime scene and homicide detectives are assisting with the investigation.
