00:00The Department of Health recorded a total of 606 road traffic incidents as of today.

00:05Meanwhile, the Department of Education and the Department of Science and Technology are

00:09collaborating to advance science and innovation.

00:18The total number of people involved in road accidents nationwide has reached 606.

00:24The data gathered by the Department of Health range from December 22, 2024

00:29to January 3, 2025. A total of seven people have died, four of them in motorcycle accidents.

00:35Meanwhile, 527 individuals were involved in accidents caused by not using safety gear

00:41like helmets, while 115 are drunk driving cases, and 433 are motorcycle-related accidents.

00:48Meanwhile, in 2024, the LTO caught 639,323 drivers for traffic violations,

00:56a 20.75% increase from 2023. This rise is due to stronger enforcement strategies,

01:02including increased visibility of LTO officers working with the PNP and local governments.

01:08The LTO Calabarzon region had the most arrests with 109,159. A total of 29,709 vehicles were

01:17impounded in 2024, a 21.93% increase from the previous year. LTO officials are committed to

01:24sustaining aggressive operations to ensure road safety for all. The Department of Education or

01:30DEPED is teaming up with the Department of Science and Technology or DOST to boost science and

01:36innovation in the country. Education Secretary Sani Angara and DOST Secretary Renato Solidum

01:41Jr. emphasized the importance of education in developing future scientists and innovators.

01:47They also highlighted the role of specialized schools like the Philippine Science High School

01:51in nurturing scientific talent. Both leaders are committed to expanding efforts to strengthen
