00:00The Dakar liked me sometimes, sometimes it liked me a little less.
00:08Why do I love it?
00:10Because it represents the challenge of my life.
00:13There were times when I hated the Dakar, I didn't like Rally Raid, sometimes I even hated

00:23But there are so many moments when I love this sport, this discipline, this madness,
00:28it's indescribable, I can't compare it to anything else in fact.
00:33It's that madness, that extreme danger that gives you a dose of adrenaline, it's crazy,
00:39gives you goosebumps, it's all in, it's everything, you put everything into it, but you have to
00:46be super concentrated at the same time, it gives you a certain pride, you have to be
00:52able to take those risks and do it under control, that's what's good, controlling the risk.
00:59The mental side is more than 50%.
01:03Little by little, in fact, in my career, I have been able to compare myself physically
01:07with my rivals and the guys who have won the Dakar, and I think I'm one of the strongest.
01:14I've sometimes been beaten by guys who are less physically strong, they sometimes have
01:19a different way of managing the race, they're sometimes having strategies and a vision of
01:24the race perhaps one or two days in advance.
01:27Personally, I tend to live life so intensely that I forget about what's going on the next day.
01:33I don't know if I have to, but I think about it all year round.
01:36This year at least, I've been thinking about it even more.
01:39Being on the podium has given me a certain confidence in my future.
01:43It's a way of saying, you see, you were right to keep believing, you were right not to listen
01:49to that little voice that might have said that maybe you should choose something else,
01:55maybe you should do something else.
02:02I had the impression that this podium was eluding me completely.
02:05The podium is 1, 2, 3, it's not 4.
02:08And I finished 4th three times before taking that third step.
02:12It's only one place better, but I can tell you that the feeling from 3rd to 4th is incomparable.
02:17I have the ability to win the Dakar.
02:19I brought that Touareg back home.
02:21OK, it's not the biggest Touareg, but I brought it home.
02:24And this one calls for the bigger one.
