00:00So look across the NHS, we will put patients in control of their care and to meet that
00:06demand we will also move care closer to their lives, shift treatment away from hospitals
00:13and centres and deliver more care at their GPs, in their community.
00:18If we can get more GPs consulting immediately with specialists, diagnosing even more quickly,
00:26then we will avoid an extra 800,000 unnecessary referrals and appointments every single year.
00:33Another game changer, community diagnostic centres.
00:37We will open them, more of them, and it will be 7 days a week, 12 hours a day.
00:42We will also let patients with long term conditions monitor themselves at home, give them the
00:48technology to do that and that will cut another half a million unnecessary appointments.
00:56Artificial intelligence will help us here as well.
00:59I've seen it in actions at a hospital I was at at the tail end of last year, an AI enhanced
01:04stethoscope that can tell in a heartbeat, literally, whether you're at risk of cardiac
01:09failure.
01:10And just think about that, that's a patient saved in an instant from a possible future
01:19that they may have had, where they might collapse, possibly more than once, where they
01:25have been rushed on trolleys into A&E, into acute services.
01:29All of that avoided because AI was able to pick it up much earlier.
01:35So today I welcome a new agreement that will expand the relationship between the NHS and
01:42the private healthcare sector, make the spaces, the facilities and resources of private hospitals
01:48more readily available to the NHS.
01:51That's more beds, more operations, more care, available to the NHS.
01:58Treating patients free at the point of use, targeted at where we need them most.
02:04A partnership in the national interest, cutting waiting times, working for you, delivering
02:10our plan for change.
