We've hit the Cowboys' offseason, and Mike McCarthy's status as Cowboys head coach is very much up in the air. ESPN's Todd Archer joined Shan & RJ in the wake of the team's season finale to discuss the reasons for and against keeping McCarthy, who the Cowboys might have interest in if they move on, and more.

00:00Todd, make the case for McCarthy to return and make the case that they should move on.
00:20Well, 49 and 35, you know, they do play hard.
00:27He's had success in this division, against divisions of foes, even in quote-unquote
00:31bad years.
00:35You look at what the offense did, maybe not this year, obviously, but last year leading
00:39the NFL in points, those would be the cases for, but then against is he was brought here
00:46in 2020 to do what Jason Garrett couldn't do.
00:49He had five years to get it done and he didn't do it.
00:52I mean, at what point is enough enough?
00:56And I think that's, I don't think the reason to bring him back is, well, who else are you
01:01going to get?
01:02That shouldn't be the, that could be like the eighth reason to bring him back, but not
01:06like the first or second, right?
01:09I mean, is there a great pool of candidates right now where everybody would say, well,
01:14that guy's certainly going to be better than Mike McCarthy?
01:16I don't know.
01:18That may be variable because his track record in Tennessee, we saw what's happened to them
01:22since he's left.
01:25Maybe he'd be a guy that, that would, you'd say, okay, that will be better.
01:28There'll be better organized.
01:29There'll be up on situational football, all that kind of stuff.
01:33But everybody else, who would you say automatically say that's an upgrade?
01:40I'm actually asking the question.
