Dodge has taken a bold step into the future, unveiling its first all-electric Dodge Charger, set to hit the market in early 2025. This new model retains the iconic design elements that have made the Charger a beloved name in the automotive world, while integrating cutting-edge technology and performance features. The new Charger boasts a powerful electric drivetrain, with top models delivering over 600 horsepower, ensuring it lives up to the performance legacy of its predecessors. Inside, the Charger is a blend of heritage and innovation, featuring a driver-centric cabin with ambient lighting, a racing-focused steering wheel, and advanced technology.

Dodge's commitment to performance is evident in the Charger’s design and features. The car includes a lever gear selector for a tactile driving experience, despite being an EV. (The brand has also promised an e-shift function to simulate gear shifting.) The Charger’s interior is designed for visibility and driver engagement, with a lowered driver display and a large multimedia screen. As Dodge prepares for test drives, the big question remains: will this electric Charger convert die-hard fans of its gas-powered predecessors?

00:00This is the first all-electric Dodge Charger.
00:08A few years ago, Dodge announced that they were getting out of the gas business
00:12and they were going to convert their entire lineup to all-electric.
00:15The very first one to roll out is this Dodge Charger.
00:18It has all of the iconic design that we know and love from all the original Heritage Dodge Chargers
00:25as well as Dodge Chargers from recent years.
00:29Some notable things about this, there is an airflow panel in the hood.
00:34There is a hatchback instead of a trunk on the rear.
00:38And in fact, it's really large.
00:41That is due to the battery pack underneath that necessitates a certain amount of space between the wheels.
00:47It'll have all the newest technology that Dodge is rolling out.
00:51It'll have incredible horsepower.
00:53They're talking at something over 600 horsepower in the top-of-the-line model.
00:58It's going to do everything that the Hellcat did,
01:01even that loud, rumbly engine noise when it hits the market early 2025.
01:08In developing the Charger line, there is the Super Bee, there is the Scat Pack, there is the Hellcat.
01:14So people who have loved those icons of trims in the past will be able to get those in future electric vehicles.
01:23Inside, the Dodge Charger feels true to the Dodge brand,
01:27but it also feels like the future of performance driving.
01:31The entire cabin is surrounded by this light panel, this ambient light panel, and a lot of 3D details.
01:39And then it has this racing-focused steering wheel, flat on the top and flat on the bottom.
01:45A nice, large driver display that is lowered into the dash,
01:49so you have great visibility and a really large multimedia screen here.
01:54They did give it an actual lever gear selector, which feels really good in your hand, and that's by design.
02:02It's an electric car, you're not going to actually be shifting gears, but this is going to feel good.
02:07And Dodge has promised that there will be an e-shift function,
02:11so you can actually shift gears in this car or feel like you're shifting gears, even though it's electric.
02:17The entire design is very driver-centric, very driver-focused, and very much built for performance.
02:27Dodge has so much confidence in the power and the capability and the passion of the Dodge Charger.
02:33They're actually taking journalists out for the first drive on a racetrack in December before the car goes on sale.
02:40So we'll find out in December what people really think about the Dodge Charger.
02:44The biggest question, though, is will the Dodge Charger be able to convert Charger fans who love those gas engines
02:51to Charger fans who love the electric power?
02:54That remains to be seen, but if they do deliver on that promise of power, I think they'll be able to.
