00:00Well I'm here outside the offices of Charlie Hebdo, the satirical magazine at
00:06the offices here in the center of the French capital and you can see behind me
00:09some of the floral tributes that were left earlier during the ceremony as a
00:14mark of respect to honor the victims of that attack which took place 10 years
00:19ago this day. The 7th of January 2015 was when the two Kouachi brothers, Saeed
00:26and Sharif, broke into these offices shooting dead 12 people, 8 editorial
00:32staff at the newspaper, 2 people who happened to be in the building at the
00:37time and also 2 police officers in this area. The French president Emmanuel
00:42Macron, the Paris mayor Ana Dalgo were here along with the president at the
00:47time Francois Hollande and they laid wreaths outside the building. The attack
00:53on the Charlie Hebdo newspaper sparked mass demonstrations calling for the
00:59respect of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of expression and also
01:04the I am Charlie movement in solidarity with the killed satirists. The ceremonies
01:12today didn't just focus on Charlie Hebdo because there was another attack where
01:16the French president and the mayor of Paris and the former French president
01:20Francois Hollande were also present in Eastern Paris on Tuesday. There was a
01:24ceremony to honor the victims of an attack that took place at a Jewish
01:29supermarket on the 9th of January 2015, so also 10 years ago. An accomplice of
01:36the two brothers who attacked this building took hostages at a Jewish
01:40supermarket and did shoot dead 4 Jewish hostages before himself being killed by
01:46police. Now these two attacks were the first deadly incidents of 2015 a year
01:51which would end with the November attacks in the French capital which
01:54focused on the Bataclan theatre and in which 130 people died.
