Discussions on Palestinian repatriation ongoing, says Fahmi

Discussions on the repatriation of Palestinian refugees living at Wisma Transit Kuala Lumpur (WTKL) to their home country are ongoing.  Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that Cabinet has been informed about the ongoing talks between the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Defence Ministry and the Egyptian government to facilitate the repatriation process. 00:00The third thing that has been discussed today is about the recent incident at Wisma Transit

00:09involving a number of Palestinians who have been brought to Malaysia for treatment.

00:16So today, apart from the media statements that have been made by the Ministry of Defence,

00:25the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence are coordinating

00:39to contact the Egyptian government to try to bring the Palestinians back.

00:50However, this process is still ongoing and all medical services will continue to be provided.

01:00The government is taking this matter seriously and is considering it as a good thing

01:07for those who have been brought to Malaysia for treatment.

01:14YB, regarding the incident at Wisma Transit,

01:19is there a discussion on whether the Palestinians should be brought back to Malaysia

01:24or should they be sent back to Egypt at a certain time?

01:32Yes, this is something that has been discussed.

01:34But as I explained earlier, it involves and will be handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

01:40and the Ministry of Defence.

01:42Therefore, it is up to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence

01:48to decide on this matter.

01:50Whether the Palestinians should be sent back to Malaysia or to other countries,
