Govt wants full explanation from Meta on removal of Haniyeh posts, says Fahmi

Malaysia is seeking a full explanation from Meta Platforms Inc (Meta) for removing postings from the Prime Minister's social media platform that featured a conversation between Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Hamas leaders, says Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

00:00We have received information that a number of petitions have been submitted by the ministerial
00:12officials regarding the talks that he had with the Hamas representative, the political

01:04The government must be sorry for the actions of META. I have asked for an explanation from
01:16META as to why only the postings or petitions that were submitted by the official account
01:28of the ministerial officials have been suspended. There are several possibilities. Either it was
01:36submitted by META itself automatically, or it was received from the public petition.
01:44So, we have not yet received a complete explanation, and we are waiting for it from META.
01:53However, I understand that so far, there have not been any media organizations that have
01:59published any news or video about the talks that the ministerial officials had with the
02:09Hamas political wing representative about the murder of Ismail Haniyeh, which has been
02:15suspended so far, other than Bernama Radio.
02:19If media organizations have experienced this incident, please inform PMCMC to try to
02:29reverse the postings. I emphasize here that all social media platforms have their own
02:39guidelines and standards, and they may take action based on their own guidelines.
02:56So, God willing, we will wait for an explanation from META.
