00:00See, the way Kavar Khatana sir has written the book, he has dealt with many real life
00:12incidences with his experience and expertise, he has converted that into a fictional story.
00:21Like I said, in the book he has asked a lot of questions, when you elect a government
00:28and if something was wrong during their tenure, then who is responsible, who is accountable
00:33and how we should ask the elected government right kind of questions within the parameters
00:41or you know staying between law and order without disturbing law and order with respect
00:48how you should you know ask many questions.
00:50So this story is actually asking a lot of questions.
00:58Although I have designed the pattern and the look and feel of the film, we had Meenad
01:07who was handling the camera, who has helped me a great deal.
01:11So he is actually, you know this DOP term is US based terminology, where DOP doesn't
01:17operate the camera, he designs the sets and there is a cinematographer who executes.
01:22So we also decided to go ahead with that for a simple reason because we had limited
01:27resources, number of days and being a DOP myself, I did not want to you know have another
01:36strong headed person on set, where there could have been arguments or delays, Meenad has
01:42already worked with me in the past and so I requested Meenad to come and do the cinematography
01:48or do the execution, so he has done that job fantastically well.
01:54Designing you know as a, you ask any director today, would you like to do a camera work
02:02also, any director happily would say yes, if I knew I would have.
02:07So for me it is a blessing, it's an advantage which I never want to lose.
02:12So although I have designed the look of the film, most of the times Meenad, I mean very
02:18less of a time I would say I have sat on the camera out of greed, out of you know passion,
02:23they used to tease me a lot.
02:25Some of my shots you have taken, I know.
02:28So second camera at times whenever there was a handheld you know operation, I used to jump
02:33in because of my greed, but otherwise Meenad has done the fabulous job.
02:37And the chemistry between Kedar and Meenad, like fantastic, smooth, seamless, so smooth.
02:46I never felt that Meenad is not happy with something and I never felt that Kedar is not
02:52happy with something because of Meenad.
02:55These things never went in this taste and because of that, maybe we were able to achieve
03:04this.
03:05Actually, Kedar should be the one to say this, but now the mic is here.
03:11We shot in 3 countries and 6 cities in how many days?
03:18So like he said, we shot in India, Istanbul and UK and multiple locations in India, Mumbai,
03:26Pune, Lucknow, where we shot entire Pakistan portion in Lucknow.
03:31Then we shifted to Kashmir where we shot his secret operations.
03:36Then we shifted to London and then Istanbul.
03:38So 44 days, we started shooting on 1st of Jan and we finished on 7th of March 2024.
03:45So just over 2 months, 44 days, 3 countries, 6 cities and multiple locations.
03:52It was only possible because of the efficient tensing.
04:00I think it is important to have creative arguments because perspectives are different.
04:08But eventually I know for a fact that my director has a vision.
04:15He or she, whoever is directing the film, has a vision for the film.
04:21He or she actually sees the film in his head first and then he is creating his characters.
04:30So it is extremely important for me to say that I feel this way.
04:36But I will always listen to the director ultimately.
04:39If the director feels that what I am saying is right, definitely he will incorporate.
04:45If he feels that not now, maybe later we can try this out, then I will definitely go ahead with his word.
04:53Just a small addition, sorry.
04:58What happens is, you always listen to everybody as a director.
05:01But see, what happens is, Anuja or Vinit or Rajbhai or Manojbhai, in that heat of the moment,
05:10they might be thinking of their own character and perspective.
05:13But as a director, I have to understand the entire screenplay and then incorporate those suggestions.
05:20You are looking at it from a third vantage point.
05:22The bigger picture.
05:23And most of the times, see, with the advantage of having such fabulous cast,
05:28most of the suggestions that came to me from the actors, I have incorporated.
05:34And I have no insecurities of admitting that I have taken so many of Vinit's suggestions and incorporated in the film.
05:43And Vinit?
05:44Creatively, perspectives are different and that is a good thing.
05:53Because because of that, a lot of new things start to be seen.
05:59And because of that, there is always a possibility of some more add-ons.
06:06Whatever add-on you are doing should not be selfish.
06:10It should be right for the film.
06:14So, the director understands that.
06:17And thanks to Kedar, he allowed it.
06:20Not just me, he allowed everyone.
06:22And what is right for the film, that is right.
06:26Everything else is wrong.
06:29So, if something is going well in that area,
06:33then undoubtedly, it is good for the film.
06:36And it should be done. I believe so.
06:39I do all the preparation.
06:41After doing everything, whatever I feel,
06:44I don't want to give a surprise on the set.
06:47I try to tell things as soon as possible.
06:51But I always keep in mind that
06:55I don't want to overtake the captain of the ship.
07:00Because if I create a different atmosphere because of something,
07:06then it will come on the film.
07:09And if something comes wrong on the film,
07:11then it is a loss for everyone.
07:13I don't have that right as an actor.
07:15So, I try to talk to the director.
07:18I do what the director likes.
07:21Even if I have 10 things in my mind,
07:24I will do what I am told.
07:28And things happen in that area.
07:32And now I have practiced.
07:34I have 20 things in my mind.
07:36I share everything.
07:38If I have something in my mind,
07:40then I share it.
07:42But if they say that I don't want 20 things,
07:44then I work with the same energy.
07:52Everything has been done.
07:54But why?
07:56Because this film, Match Fixing,
07:58for which we are talking to you,
08:00is releasing in theatres on 10th January.
08:03So, please go and watch Match Fixing in theatres.
