00:00Starting on January 20, the Department of Agriculture will start implementing the maximum suggested retail price for imported rice in Metro Manila.
00:11Next week, the price of oil will rise.
00:15This is Bernadette Reyes.
00:21In Metro Manila first, the new maximum suggested retail price for imported rice will be implemented.
00:27Starting on January 20, the price of imported rice will be only P58 per kilo,
00:33except if it is Japanese rice, black rice, and Malagkit.
00:37The price will be reviewed every month to make sure that it meets the price in the world market.
00:42This went through a consultation with importers, retailers, and government agencies, according to the Department of Agriculture.
00:49We set a margin of P10 per kilo from importer to retailer.
00:56So that's our P58.
00:58But now, the world price is going down.
01:02So maybe the P58 MSRP in the future should be lower if the price of the world price continues to go down.
01:11Brands will also remove rice that may be the cause of price increase.
01:16Color coding will be replaced.
01:18The DA will also issue guidelines on this.
01:21Brands will be prohibited to put the type, origin, percent broken, and price.
01:28Then the tags will have color coding.
01:31That color coding is actually an NFA type based on the meeting yesterday with the retailers.
01:37Many of them are still implementing it actually.
01:41Next week, solid rice, 100% broken rice, will also be launched at a price of P35 to P36.
01:49For now, it can only be purchased from the chosen buyers.
01:53In the price monitoring of DA and DTI, the price of tomatoes has gone down.
01:58In Murphy Market in Quezon City, from the P280 price last Wednesday, it is now at P190.
02:06But the price of some major purchases has gone down, such as sardines, milk, coffee, noodles, and bottled water.
02:13This month, DTI and manufacturers will help to discuss the price of major purchases.
02:19If the price goes up, DTI will make sure that it will not affect the buyers.
02:27Next week, the new high price of oil is possible.
02:32According to the DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau, based on the four-day trading,
02:37the possible high price for each liter of gasoline is up to P70,
02:41and up to P75 for each liter of diesel and kerosene.
02:45As part of the reason for lowering the production of oil by OPEC and Russia,
02:50the demand for Asia is expected to rise and the weather is cold in Europe and America.
