00:00I'm Wan Iryani Wan Ismail, a professor from the University of Malaysia, Kengganu.
00:11Our group has succeeded in producing an innovation called Marno.
00:18Marno is actually a substitute for Marine Nanoparticle from Malaysia Shore.
00:25Marno is a nanoparticle product, a nanoparticle that is produced from corn cake, also known as Umpun-Umpun.
00:36At the beginning, we received funding to study the chemical properties of Umpun-Umpun,
00:44which is produced from the water of Malaysia.
00:46When we produced the research, we produced a lot of waste materials from Umpun-Umpun.
00:54From there, we got an idea to produce a side product from Umpun-Umpun,
01:00which is known as Perak Nanoparticle.
01:03Perak Nanoparticle is a raw material that can be used in various industrial sectors,
01:13such as the cosmetic sector, where Perak Nanoparticle can be used in compact powder,
01:21such as deodorant, which can prevent the growth of microbes,
01:26which can prevent the smell of bad odour, and at the same time, can kill these dangerous microbes.
01:31The first challenge in producing Marno is that we need to go to the coal mine to find this species.
01:39So, this is an unsustainable principle.
01:43So, we need to have the first Umpun-Umpun farm in Malaysia
01:50because it only uses this species in Malaysia.
01:53As I mentioned, the Umpun-Umpun we found have various benefits and characteristics.
02:01Besides producing Perak Nanoparticle,
02:04Umpun-Umpun also have advantages in treating wounds.
02:10We have done other research, we have compared Umpun-Umpun and Gamat in the wound healing process,
02:18and we found that Umpun-Umpun have a better wound healing activity than Gamat.
02:24So, here we see many advantages that can be offered by Umpun-Umpun,
02:29not only in the production of Perak Nanoparticle,
02:33but also in the medical sector, wound treatment and so on.
02:38My hope and the members of the group,
02:41we are determined to see and produce the first Umpun-Umpun farm in Malaysia
02:49because we have many species that have their own uniqueness compared to other regions.
