Martin Dempster day 2 Team Cup wrap in Abu Dhabi
Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from
00:07Abbot Dabby Golf Club at the end of the second day's play in the Team Cup, an event between
00:16Great Britain and Ireland and Continental Europe that's part of Europe's preparation for the
00:23Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York in September. Two years ago at the same venue,
00:31Continental Europe emerged as the winners, led by former Open champion Francesco Molinari.
00:39Molinari is in charge of the Continental Europe team again, this time up against Justin Rose.
00:47On this occasion, it's Great Britain and Ireland who are in a commanding position heading into
00:54the last day's singles. Rose's side lead 11-4 after an opening day's four-ball session and
01:03then two foursome sessions on Saturday. That means they just need two points from the ten
01:11concluding singles to come out on top. Tom McKibben, he's been linked with a switch to live
01:20golf in the near future. It's been a great couple of days so far for the Northern Irishman. He's won
01:30all three of his matches. Tyrell Hatton, another live player, he's been in fine form too. For the
01:40Continental Europeans, the French duo of Antoine Rosner, a winner on the PGA Tour last year,
01:48and former amateur champion Romain Langasque, they've won all three of their matches.
01:55Apart from those two, it's been a disappointing couple of days for the Continental Europeans.
02:01Rose, a Ryder Cup stalwart, he's got his sights set on another appearance in that match in New
02:10York in September. But at the same time, he'd love to add a winning Team Cup captain to his CV.
