00:00The popularity of Boracay Island is still growing

00:03because not only a few, but 17 cruise ships

00:07have been able to cross the island this year.

00:16Confirmed by the Portship Operation and Special Project in Charge,

00:20Nevin Makirang, the expected arrival of the cruise ship industry

00:24in the province of Aklan

00:25is due to the arrival of many cruise ships there.

00:29This January, five cruise ships will arrive on the island,

00:33including Ida Stella, Norwegian Sky, and Seabourn Incor.

00:38Ida Stella will be the first to arrive on the island on January 13.

00:42The so-called cruise ships are expected to be able to carry

00:46more than 8,800 foreign passengers.

00:50Makirang also added that five more cruise ships

00:53will arrive on Boracay Island in February,

00:56four in March, two in September, and one in December.

01:01This year, we have 17 arrivals.

01:06Starting January this year, we have five.

01:10And the two there are what we call made-in-call.

01:14These are Ida Stella and Norwegian Sky.

01:20Most of the cruise ships that visit Boracay Island

01:25are expected to spend a day on the island.

01:28It is also considered an important change for Boracay

01:31for the arrival of cruise ships.

01:33Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista said

01:36that this has a positive impact on the economy

01:40not only of Malay but of the whole province.

01:43It really boosts the tourism.

01:45Actually, most of the passengers are senior citizens.

01:50And of course, they will stay only for one day.

01:53The beauty of it is we will give them more experience

01:58so that when they return,

02:00of course, they will convince and we'll invite more people

02:03or their friends and families to come back and really to stay in Boracay.

02:07The Philippine Ports Authority is also starting

02:10the Php 743.978 million cruise ship port project

02:16in Barangay Alegria in Burwanga, Aklan,

02:18which is expected to receive more and bigger cruise ships.

02:23The local government of Aklan,

02:25also known as the Department of Tourism,

02:27continues to maintain a good service to the tourists

02:32so that they can feel the warm welcome

02:35in the world-class island of Boracay.
