00:00In Karate, the first Karate National Championships organized by the Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation will start in a few weeks in Tagaytay.

00:18The schedule of the Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation for organizing the 6th edition of the Philippine National Karate Championships

00:26from February 28 to March 2 will be held in the Tagaytay Combat Sports Complex.

00:32It is expected that more than 100 Filipino Karateka from all over the Philippines will participate in the competition

00:38where some of the highlights of the event are the Pre-Committee Seminar, Coaches and Referees Seminar, and the Karate Pilipinas Grand Champion Point System.

00:48In the name of PTV Sports, Karate Pilipinas President Richard Lim will share the differences of the upcoming National Championships this year compared to the past events.

00:59We're hosting the World Youth Championships this coming 2026 in Manila.

01:04That's why we have this National Championships in Tagaytay.

01:0714 to 20 years old will play there and it will be part of their selection process.

01:12Of course, there will be another selection for 2026 for this.

01:17But more or less, the winners will be part of that pool.

01:23But not necessarily they will be the ones representing the Philippines.

01:28So, they have to keep up.

01:32Aside from the regular competition categories, two Masters Kata event categories will also be flagged in the competition

01:39for Filipino Karatekas aged 55 to 65 years old

01:43while the other one is for those aged 65 and above

01:47where the President of Karate Pilipinas and former Karate Champion Richard Lim is interested in participating.

01:56That is part of the promotion as well.

01:59As we all know, Atty. Al Agra is promoting the Masters Pinoy, right?

02:06So, that's why we included the Masters Pinoy category in the National Championships.

02:13More or less, for them to be aware that there will be Masters Pinoy.

02:20So that they can prepare, right?

02:23There's no time at stake here for them to win a gold medal in the National Team.

02:30There's none. But I mean, this is self-satisfaction.

02:33I mean, at the age of 55 and above, you still get to compete, right?
