00:00And today, sir, at last year, 60% of terrorists eliminated were of Pakistan origin.
00:25You see, when we're looking at terrorism, I just want to give a little bit of statistics.
00:29When we're looking at 2022, about 200 plus terrorists were eliminated.
00:35This number came down to, I think, about 190-odd terrorists in 2023.
00:41And now it has come down to about 90 terrorists.
00:43So that is the figure.
00:44There is a continuous declining trend.
00:46Now, what is the two things which are very important in this declining trend is the number
00:50of Indian terrorists and the number of foreign terrorists.
00:54And what is being observed is that the number of foreign terrorists is increasing.
00:58And why that is increasing is because the number of Indian terrorists are not available.
01:03People are not getting recruited.
01:05That change has taken place.
01:07In the present scenario, when about 90-odd people have been, in 2024, 90-odd terrorists
01:13have been killed, about 40 or 42 of these terrorists have been identified as belonging
01:17to Pakistan, which means that the number of terrorists from India has reduced dramatically.
01:25In the same statement which the Army Chief gave, he says 80% of these terrorists who
01:29are operating as of now in Jammu and Kashmir, they are from Pakistan.
01:35So why is Pakistan sending their own nationals and not Indian nationals?
01:39It is because they are finding it very difficult to recruit Indian nationals.
01:43That is the success of the Indian policy.
01:46And it is going to continue this way till a stage comes when the number of terrorists
01:51from Jammu and Kashmir will be zero.
01:54And because the support is going down every day from Jammu and Kashmir, despite the fact
01:58that incidents still keep taking place, Pakistan will not be able to send terrorists anymore.
02:03What major steps India should take to reduce these numbers?
02:08You see, the two important aspects are, one is the military aspect or the use of force.
02:15That has to continue.
02:16And what my advice to the administration is that even when there is zero terrorism, the
02:24military presence should not be reduced.
02:26Because once you reduce the military presence, the space, the space for the terrorists becomes
02:31available.
02:32So we have made this mistake earlier when terrorism went down, we said, okay, normalcy
02:36has come in and you know, you remove the army from those areas.
02:39I think that is a mistake.
02:40You should, at least for 10 years, even if there are no incidents, the military presence
02:46should be there.
02:47The presence of the security forces will be there, must be there, so that the base of
02:51the terrorists is completely wiped out and a new generation which has come up will never
02:56ever give support to them.
02:57So it is important one to keep that base of the terrorists down and to maintain the security
03:03force presence, even when there is no violence, that is one.
03:07Number two, I think there is much greater political involvement, political and administrative
03:11involvement with the people that is vital.
03:14In any place where there is political space, terrorism dies.
03:19So I think now, especially with the last elections, which were considered to be one of the freest
03:25and fairest elections ever conducted, and it was an open election and everybody has
03:30claimed that yes, this was the will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which has come
03:34out in the elections.
03:36That is the biggest slap on the face of terrorism.
03:39If we can continue to hold elections in this manner throughout, the voice of the people
03:44gets represented politically.
03:46So there is no need for them to resort to terrorism.
03:49I think that is a very important aspect and the previous elections, the government policies,
03:54the thrust which has been laid by the Modi administration on infrastructure development
04:01and on overall economic development and health of Jammu and Kashmir is another factor.
04:06And finally, tourism.
04:08The number of tourists which have visited Jammu and Kashmir in 2024 is the largest ever
04:14in history.
04:15That shows the success of the government thrust on eliminating terrorism from this
04:19area and I am quite confident that while we may still have over the next two, three years
04:24some incidents taking place, overall it will decline and I think over a period of time
04:29it will die down completely and there will be peace in Jammu and Kashmir, the way we
04:34have peace now in the northeast like places like Mizoram and other places which are totally,
04:39totally peaceful.
04:40Sir, in 2024, 60% of the terrorists who have been killed belong to Pakistan, 60% of the
04:50terrorists who have been killed belong to Pakistan.
04:54How do you see this statement?
04:57Look, it is a matter of understanding.
