00:08Nominations for the 97th Academy Awards will now be announced on January 23, 2025.
00:16According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, CEO Bill Cramer and Academy
00:22President Janet Young expressed their sorrow over the fire's impact and the significant
00:27losses faced by many in the community.
00:30In a joint statement, they mentioned that we are all devastated by the impact of the
00:35fires and the profound losses experienced by so many in our community.
00:40The Academy has always been a unifying force within the film industry and we are committed
00:46to standing together in the face of hardship.
00:51With fires still active in the Los Angeles area, the Film Academy also extended the nominations
00:56voting period for its members till Friday.
01:00The organization that puts on the Oscars has also made the decision to cancel its annual
01:04nominees lunch, an untelevised event best known for the class photos it produces annually.
01:11The scientific and technical awards previously set for Feb 18 will be rescheduled to a later
01:16date too.
01:19The 97th Oscars will still happen on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre with a live television
01:25broadcast on ABC beginning at 7 pm ET and a live stream on Hulu.
