00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05There's a lot of cloud in the forecast through the next few days.
00:08One or two brighter breaks likely, particularly in the north,
00:11sheltered from the southwest wind.
00:13At the same time, where the cloud is thick enough,
00:15poor visibility as it shrouds the hills and mountains
00:18and also some patchy rain and drizzle.
00:20High pressure sits just to the south of England and Wales.
00:22At the same time, low pressure sits towards the north of Scotland.
00:26Always then with a squeeze on the ice bars
00:28and these weather fronts just grazing the north as well as the west
00:31as we head through the next few days.
00:33In fact, winds will pick up further through into the early hours of Friday morning.
00:37Lighter breezes always across central and eastern areas
00:41and that's pretty much how we see the beginning of the weekend.
00:44Now for the time being, watch out for that low cloud,
00:47hill fog, lower levels of fog as well.
00:50Towards the northwest, yes, a stronger wind here.
00:53We could see some patchy drizzle where the cloud is thick enough
00:56and across the southern uplands, Pennine districts, the Cumbrian Felds,
00:59down towards the Welsh mountains and hills,
01:02some spots of rain and drizzle can't be ruled out.
01:05At the same time, one or two clearer slots towards the east in shelter
01:09and that will allow temperatures to dip down to low single figures
01:12so there's a chance of one or two pockets of frost
01:15as we head into Wednesday morning.
01:18For most, temperatures will be well above freezing,
01:21especially across the north as well as the west,
01:23coming in around 8 to 10 degrees Celsius,
01:26probably around 4 to 6 across mid-Wales,
01:29down towards the southeast of England, northeast England, southeast Scotland.
01:33So first thing then on Wednesday morning, if you are travelling,
01:36watch out for that low cloud, that fog, poor visibility,
01:40hindering your journey, take extra care and extra time.
01:43Clearer skies though across Northern Ireland
01:46and as we head through the morning into the afternoon,
01:48we will see breaks in the clouds just coming in across Scotland,
01:51northeast England, perhaps even the Welsh borders down towards the west country.
01:56Thicker cloud always across the Midlands, the southeast
01:59and across the far north and northwest of Scotland again
02:02with some outbreaks of rain moving in across the outer Hebrides
02:05and just clipping the far northwest of mainland Scotland.
02:09Elsewhere, some clearer skies to end the day for Northern Ireland,
02:12the central belt of Scotland, Aberdeenshire, also Northumberland,
02:15Tyne and Wear and the north of Wales perhaps seeing some clearer skies.
02:20Temperatures then typically coming in around 9 to 11 degrees Celsius.
02:25Now through Wednesday evening and overnight, not a lot of change to be honest,
02:29yet again we will see some clearer skies,
02:32we could see some fog where the winds remain light,
02:35always a brisk breeze across the northwest of Scotland,
02:39coming up across Northern Ireland, a bit of a breeze here mixing things up
02:42but where we see those clearer skies, there is a chance of some pockets of frost
02:46as we head into Thursday morning, northern England, northern parts of Wales,
02:49the Midlands, even shelter spots of eastern Scotland.
02:53Now through Thursday morning, mostly dry yet again,
02:57some stubborn clouds, perhaps even some fog patches,
03:00temperatures struggling to rise above around 6 or 7 degrees Celsius
03:03across England and Wales, perhaps 9 down towards the southwest,
03:0610 for western Scotland, perhaps a 10 across southern parts of Northern Ireland
03:10and your outlook through Friday, spot the difference, a lot of clouds,
03:14temperatures struggling across England and Wales, perhaps a 10 towards the northwest.
03:17See you later.
