00:19The Department of Agriculture will increase the supply of cheap rice.

00:23The DA's target is to sell NFA rice to local governments

00:28that can sell it to their residents or use it in times of crisis.

00:33According to the DA, NFA rice will be sold for P38,

00:38equal or cheaper than P38 to P65 per kilo of rice in major supermarkets in Metro Manila.

00:47The effect of this on the price of rice, said the DA.

00:51It can still bring down the price because the available rice is cheaper.

00:58300,000 sacks of rice were ready to be sold by the National Food Authority to local governments.

01:04According to the NFA, rice is considered non-regular or stale rice

01:09that has been stored in warehouses for two months, but the quality is still good.

01:14The agency needs to issue a notice to improve the supply of rice to farmers this harvest season.

01:21We have experienced some branches and warehouses

01:26where we can't really receive a lot of rice because we don't have a place to store it.

01:33Let's say next month, that whole almost 700,000 sacks of rice

01:42will be considered as two months and above that can be disposed as an aging stock.

01:47The NFA's fund is P15 billion to buy local rice from farmers.

01:54This will help local farmers sell their rice at a higher price.

02:01At the same time, the NFA will build a rice processing facility that will help in drying the rice.

02:10Now, they will dry the rice and sell it.

02:14No, it's dry. It's wet. Just accept it.

02:18In fact, we would prefer if the rice is wet.

02:21Correct.

02:22Because we already have facilities and we know that the drying process is correct.

02:27According to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,

02:31the NFA assured the early distribution of free rice to farmers.

02:37Aside from the P30 billion fund from the Department of Budget and Management

02:42under the Rice Tarification Law,

02:45the NFA has a P21 billion fund that was approved by the National Rice Program of the agency

02:52that will increase the production of rice and make it more affordable.
