00:00Through the Food Terminal Incorporated, the distribution of NFA rice to local governments has already started.

00:07Aside from this, the Agriculture Department and COMELEC joined forces to apply for the LGUs' exemption

00:15so that they can sell cheap rice.

00:23The Department of Agriculture has turned over rice to several local government units

00:28through the National Food Authority through the Food Terminal Incorporated.

00:33Aside from food security, it aims to expand the NFA warehouses

00:37so that local farmers can access the rice.

00:41These are the bags of NFA rice that were released to the local government units

00:47showing their interest in obtaining NFA rice

00:50following the declaration of the National Food Security Emergency on rice.

00:55At present, 67 LGUs have been approved by the FDI to become NFA rice distributors.

01:01The initial withdrawal of NFA rice from the Valenzuela warehouse is 1,000 sacks.

01:06NFA rice is sold for P33 per kilo to LGUs

01:10while it can be sold to LGUs, government agencies, and GOCCs in Mami Mili for P35 per kilo.

01:17The local government of San Juan City and Camarines Sur decided

01:21that they will no longer allocate P2 for the cost of logistics.

01:26That's why they will continue to allocate P3 for the rice they sell to the public.

01:30The NFA rice will be rolled out to the said LGUs on Monday.

01:34The DA will allow the reselling of NFA rice

01:37but it should be allocated for P2 per kilo from P33.

01:42The LGUs will issue guidelines for this.

01:45The DA's target is to sell 150 metric tons of NFA rice within six months.

01:50Aside from this, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

01:54passed a large fund to buy rice from local farmers.

01:58We agreed with the NFA Council that we will buy rice this year, 2025,

02:03for a minimum of P23 per kilo and it can reach P30 per kilo depending on the market.

02:11Our beloved President Bongbong Marcos also passed a 9 billion pesos

02:17to buy rice from our farmers.

02:21This is an additional fund since last year.

02:24The campaign period for the upcoming election is also in line with March.

02:28The DA is already coordinating with Comelec

02:30to apply the LGUs of Comelec Exemption for the sale of NFA rice.

02:35The Metro Manila Council and Camarines Sur LGU

02:39assured that they will not use cheap NFA rice for politics.

02:42Meanwhile, DA Secretary Francisco Chula Ruel, Jr. clarified

02:47that the book that was found in the Kadiwa store in Quezon City is an isolated case.

02:51The selling was halted because the next day,

02:54we saw a small amount of rice, right?

02:56But then, we didn't know, we investigated why the sale was continued

03:00when it was actually stopped.

03:03The DA will continue to tighten the surveillance of the rice sellers

03:07following the incident.
