00:00It was through Kate Lam, our assistant head, she's been working with the Northeast Combined
00:05Authority now for a considerable number of years and there was an opportunity to show
00:1045 delegates from Hong Kong around the school and talk about our curriculum offer but more around
00:17gear around careers education and how we try and prepare our young people for the next steps.
00:24So that's really kind of what this afternoon was about. It's a really proud day for the school
00:28really and you know I'm not going to pretend that I've had a major part in this because it's been
00:35done by the team and more so Kate Lam and our connections advisors Hayley and Ashley Donnelly.
00:41So to kind of be recognized is really important. Our full ethos is about preparing young people to
00:47be happy, confident, independent for adulthood and so just to share how we do that from the
00:54youngest ages in terms of our reception and year one children all the way through to sixth form
01:00is really quite nice and I think in our presentation you know we showed how a group of
01:05our kind of four or five year olds who are working with the ambulance service yesterday in a real
01:10life ambulance and getting to know what a uniform looks like and what the blue flashy lights are
01:15that early steps of employability and find out what types of employment you can have
01:21to children in sixth form actually doing real life placements whether it be in aerospace or
01:27or a dog's home or in a retail industry. It really kind of for me shows the impact of what we're
01:35doing and just threading careers education through every phase of school really just
01:41shows how impactful it is. Thanks to everyone that's put us where we are today and a big thank
01:48you to everyone from Hong Kong that visited and it'd be lovely one of the things that we've kind
01:53of talked about this afternoon is to keep in touch and hopefully have teams calls between
01:57special schools in Hong Kong and ourselves so we can establish a new relationship with new friends.
