00:00Rich, 2-2 draw against Braintree tonight, how are the emotions after that one?
00:05Another rollercoaster, you know you go, you start the first couple of minutes pretty well
00:10and then two and a half minutes into the game you're 1-0 down and you're scratching your head again.
00:15But we got back on the bike as they say and again the rollercoaster started by equalising going 2-1 up and 2-2 at halftime.
00:25So a real high-intensity start but then just done on the counter really wasn't it, that early goal from Lisby for Braintree?
00:31Yeah, we highlighted their attacking threats and it's easy to see their attacking threats but we were left short a little bit.
00:41But like I say, the recovery was pretty good.
00:44Yeah, I mean it was a good response to that wasn't it in that first half?
00:47So you got the nice two goals really, James Henry the first one took you well and then obviously Joshua De Lob for the second one as well.
00:55Yeah, so again we're creating chances. Probably the second half we controlled the game a lot more than we did the first half
01:04which was a little bit backwards and forwards, you're at my end, you have it, we have it.
01:08So I think really the second half we sort of limited them to their main chances were from set plays.
01:14Yeah, I mean that first half was incredibly open, it's almost like a basketball game at times wasn't it?
01:18And I guess naturally at halftime you would have wanted a bit more control in that second half and felt you got that in the second half?
01:24We got that second half, we were a bit more measured around the box, we still created enough chances to win the game.
01:31So the other end, like I say, the set plays were a bit of an issue, we got away with that.
01:39But again, probably second half, our first half we created enough to win the game.
01:44Yeah, I mean there are plenty of chances tonight really, you always want to be creating the chances don't you?
01:48I mean that's obviously the main thing isn't it? To hit the post.
01:51Yeah, hit the post, a couple of good saves off Josh Barrett from the short corner.
01:55But like I said earlier, the worry is if we stop creating chances then we have to look at stuff but we are creating more than enough chances for the game.
02:04I guess you would have been aware of their set plays and aerial threat from them at that point?
02:10Yeah, we work hard as a group, the whole squad and the staff looking at strengths and weaknesses.
02:17We know their strengths massively and stopping them is sometimes a different thing.
02:22But we knew what they were about and we set up as well as we could.
02:27Will Armitage in for a debut, pleased with how he went?
02:30Yeah, you're not going to get a tougher game than Mark and Akindi sometimes.
02:33He's tried and tested and years of hard work to Mark.
02:37So yeah, fair play to Will, he's come in and done a good job.
02:40Yeah, I mean Akindi's not just proven in this league but also up in the Football League as well isn't he?
02:44Of course.
02:45So yeah, a bit of a batter's in there.
02:47Yeah, and they've got pace in wide areas as well.
02:49So we knew that, we tried to deal with it.
02:51Yeah, in some stages we did okay.
02:54Like I say, second half we controlled it, limited them to balls into the box.
02:59Fair play to them, movement was good and they got a couple of free edges.
03:02And obviously you'll have seen Will in the National League Cup game here for Southampton.
03:07Is that a bit of a bonus from that?
03:09That you can see players and obviously they see how you play and that sort of thing?
03:13Yeah, I think we've played three teams now for the 21s and the feedback from them has been
03:19we play how they want their young players to come through and play.
03:23So it's been lucky for this competition this season.
03:27So yeah, Will's come in and hopefully he'll progress as a player and help us too.
03:32Ashley had to come off at the end.
03:34A bit early to know what's gone on there?
03:38Yeah, we're unsure.
03:39To be honest, we haven't even got to that stage yet.
03:41It's too early to see.
03:43So we'll assess that probably tonight.
03:45But we'll know probably a lot more tomorrow as the day goes on.
03:49Tommy Whittington obviously managed to make a bit of an appearance on the bench tonight.
03:54Does that give everyone a bit of a boost on his road to recovery?
03:58To see him show his presence and show his passion?
04:01Yeah, it's nice to see him back.
04:03We have missed him.
04:04I think the whole club's missed him.
04:06So it's good to see him back.
04:08But obviously you've got on with it as a coaching team in his absence haven't you?
04:13And it's a five game unbeaten run in all comps, four in the league.
04:17And obviously the trophy win.
04:19Yeah, and I think the four draws, you can look at them and potentially we could have won most of them games.
04:27And that's probably a little bit of a disappointing thing.
04:31But again, like I say, we're creating enough two win games.
04:33We've just got to nail some of them chances.
04:36Obviously a long trip to Oldham and an Oldham team obviously going well this season.
04:40Thoughts on that really?
04:42Now we'll start thinking about it.
04:44The main priority until half an hour ago was a Braintree game.
04:49So we'll look at stuff, see where their strengths and their weaknesses are.
04:53And work on a bit on Thursday and Friday.
04:55So yeah, we'll start looking at that now.
04:58Another draw on the board and positives with chances created.
05:04It's a pain to build on really going forward.
05:06Yeah, that's what I mean.
05:07Like I say, as long as we're creating chances, and we're creating a lot.
05:11We look great going forward.
05:13That's the plan we've got.
05:15If we've got to score three, sometimes we score three.
05:18That's our philosophy.
