00:21Vowing to put America first as secretary of state for president-elect Donald Trump

00:28Placing our core national interest above all else is not isolationism. It is the common-sense realization

00:36That our foreign part that a foreign policy centered in our national interest is not some outdated relic

00:43Rubio received a positive reception from both Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee

00:53Where he has served for the last 14 years

00:57President-elect Trump

00:59And Senator Rubio are clear-eyed and understand that where freedom and democracy exists America has strong allies and trusted trade partners

01:07Marco has a strong record of holding the regimes in Communist China, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua accountable for the repression and tyranny

01:14He will work with President Trump to punish communist regimes for their crimes

01:19Trump has said he will seek an end to Ukraine's war against Russian aggression as soon as he takes office

01:27Democratic senators asked Rubio to outline what that deal would look like

01:32What you think is important for us to do in order to ensure that there's the strongest possible negotiating position

01:39If Ukraine and Russia do get to the negotiating table

01:43I think it should be the the official position of the United States that this war should be brought to an end

01:49Neck and the question becomes you know, what role can we play?

01:52and I think the first is by making that abundantly clear and my

01:56Differences with the Biden administration throughout this process is that they never clearly

02:01delineated what the end goal of the conflict was

02:04Rubio also addressed the possibilities opened up by the ceasefire in Gaza

02:09There are opportunities available now in the Middle East that did not exist 90 days ago

02:14Whether it's what's happened in Lebanon whether it's what's happened in Syria

02:18whether it's what hopefully will happen with this ceasefire and the release of hostages after

02:24Horrifying detention and unjustifiable actions by Hamas

02:29Whether it's any of these few things are all in combination

02:31There are now factors at play in the Middle East that I think we can build upon and may open the door to extraordinary

02:37and historic opportunities and looking ahead

02:40Rubio said the greatest threat to the United States was the Communist Party of China

02:46They have elements that the Soviet Union never possessed

02:49they are a technological adversary and competitor an industrial competitor and economic competitor geopolitical competitor a

02:57Scientific competitor now and in every realm is an extraordinary challenge

03:01It's one that I believe will define the 21st century when the son of Cuban immigrants

03:05Rubio would be the first Latino Secretary of State if he is confirmed as expected

03:12That vote could come in the US Senate as early as next week
