00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the turnover of 8 housing projects under the Yolanda Permanent Housing Program.
00:08The details are in the national news of Kenneth Paciente of PTV Manila.
00:15It's too dangerous. We thought that we won't be able to survive.
00:22It's still saddening for Josefina that she experienced the super typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
00:28The challenge that she faced did not end when the typhoon stopped.
00:32Because after her house and property were destroyed,
00:35life for her and her family did not become easier.
00:38Josefina is just one of thousands of people who experienced the typhoon Yolanda.
00:43So to help them recover,
00:45President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the turnover of 8 housing projects under the Yolanda Permanent Housing Program
00:54by the National Housing Authority.
00:56He distributed the symbolic key that reflects the 3,570 housing units
01:02in the 8 projects that were built in Leyte, Samar, and Maguing in Biliran.
01:06According to the President, this is a way for the government to give back to the victims of the typhoon.
01:12In the new Philippines, we hope that you will be successful.
01:17Not only for yourselves, but also for the future of our future generations.
01:25Let us all...
01:30Let us all take care of these houses
01:34that will serve as the foundation of a stronger community and a brighter future.
01:42The Executive Board also promised that as part of the government's efforts,
01:46it will be able to build disaster-resilient types of houses
01:50to be prepared for the stronger calamities that will be followed by climate change.
01:55At the same time, the Executive Board also promised to strengthen flood mitigation projects.
02:01There is a flood mitigation project here in Leyte.
02:04This is the Leyte Tide Embankment Project
02:08that will be able to provide protection against the strong waves
02:12to the communities near the sea.
02:15More than half of this project has been completed.
02:20I hope that in the near future, this project will also be completed by the DPWH,
02:26or the Department of Public Works and Highways.
02:29Throughout the country, we pay attention to ensuring that all flood control projects
02:37are properly designed so that they can withstand the frequent rains and floods.
02:45The area of each housing unit is estimated at 22 square meters to 28.6 square meters.
02:52They will also not pay for amortization.
02:55The NHA also assured that these housing projects will be built in safe areas.
03:00The President also assured that the government is currently working on the first housing projects
03:05to accommodate beneficiaries.
03:08The houses we built are substandard.
03:12They lack electricity, water, and roads.
03:16They are too far away.
03:18That is why they were not used much.
03:20But what we did is that we gave a little more funds
03:26so that the NHAs that were built first, which were technically substandard,
03:32can now be used.
