00:00The 58 pesos per kilo of the maximum suggested retail price of imported rice is now effective.

00:06There are also more stores that sell rice ranging from 36 to 38 pesos per kilo.

00:17In the recent public market, Aurelia is buying rice.

00:22And there's a vendor that she often goes to.

00:25And what she always buys is imported rice.

00:29She says it's delicious, and it even has the aroma of coconut milk.

00:33But for her, the price of rice is too high.

00:37It's better if it goes down so that the budget fits.

00:43And starting today, the Department of Agriculture will really increase the maximum suggested retail price of imported rice.

00:50According to the DA, the most expensive imported rice is already 58 pesos.

00:55Before this, the price of imported rice reached 65 pesos.

01:02Mandatory in the sense that because there was an agreement,

01:07in a way, now they're monitoring it because we're going to issue guidelines.

01:12Because as of now, we're still planning the guidelines.

01:16So maybe in a way, the strictness, we're not going to implement it yet.

01:21The government is also ensuring that supermarkets are following the prices of imported rice.

01:28Not including the police, the specialty rice varieties like malagkit, Japanese rice, and black rice.

01:35MSRP is also high, with a nominal profit margin of 10 pesos per kilo in the landed cost of imported rice.

01:43Aside from this, the former 40 pesos of rice can now be bought for 38 pesos in the province of Pangulok, Yosk.

01:51These are the RFA 25 or 25% broken rice.

01:56In the province of Pangulok, Yosk, 45 pesos of rice or 5% broken rice can also be bought.

02:03The so-called worth it rice is also available for 36 pesos.

02:07And the aging but good quality rice stock of NFA for 29 pesos.

02:13The Department of Agriculture is also encouraging the Metro Manila mayors to make the government's cheap rice available to all public and private markets in Metro Manila.

02:24Kagwara also said that it is possible this week to have a resolution regarding the food security emergency that will be declared throughout the country.

02:32There will only be two basis of this food security emergency, the rice shortage and the extraordinary increase in rice prices.

02:50The DA also hopes that the Kadiwa Stores will be expanded throughout Metro Manila.

02:55And through these projects, the price of rice will be lowered.
