00:04is to do a background check on those who want to be an overseas Filipino worker or OFW.

00:15Senator Rafi Tulfo is now being called by the Total Deployment Ban in Kuwait

00:20because of the ongoing incidents of the deaths of some overseas Filipino workers in OFWs in the country.

00:26Senator Tulfo said that it looks like there needs to be a screening of the OFWs.

00:57According to Migrant Worker Secretary Hans Leo Kakdak,

01:01there is a policy now by the recruitment agencies to do a background check on the employers.

01:06But Tulfo insisted that the government should be the first to investigate.

01:12The Migrant Secretary replied,

01:26At the moment, we have tightened the grip on the foreign recruitment side in Kuwait.

01:30But yes, it is time to face the employer so that we can know the background

01:35and have sufficient preparation before our workers go there.

01:40At the moment, the Department of Migrant Workers or DMW is currently investigating

01:44the pre-departure screening of OFWs

01:47and prohibiting the deployment of first-time workers in Kuwait.

01:50Tulfo said,

01:52Since the Kuwait government has no proper system for their employers,

01:56the total deployment ban should be lifted

01:58to prevent OFWs from being abused by their employers.
