00:00In the ongoing campaign against the Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV,

00:05the Pangasinan Provincial Health Office called on the public

00:08to get tested early to remain healthy and to avoid the spread of the disease or infection.

00:14The details in the national news of PIA Pangasinan's Jhenry Del Rosario.

00:21The Provincial Health Office of Pangasinan called on the public

00:25to join the early testing for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus

00:29to remain healthy and to avoid the spread of the disease or infection.

00:33According to Provincial Health Education Promotion Officer Jonah Len Cabangon,

00:38302 confirmed cases of HIV in the province,

00:42most of which are between the ages of 25 and 34.

00:46In 2019, there were 180.

00:48And then in 2023, because the turnaround of the data is quite long,

00:55there were 302.

00:57So almost 50%.

01:00This is another effect of our wide-ranging HIV awareness campaign.

01:06Many are getting tested.

01:07Although there is no cure for HIV,

01:09it can be controlled through anti-retroval therapy

01:13that reduces the number of blood viruses and strengthens the immune system.

01:18The Region 1 Medical Center in Lungsod ng Dagupan is offering free HIV testing and medication.

01:24Meanwhile, Cabangon explained that HIV can only be transmitted

01:28through unprotected sex, the use of a lot of syringes, and smoking.

01:33However, it cannot be transmitted through licking, kissing, or using both covers.

01:38The PHO continues its campaign against HIV

01:41through forums, school campaigns, and radio programs.

01:45Cabangon also called for understanding and support for those with HIV.
