00:00It came out in a survey that there are companies that will hire more college graduates and have job experience.
00:08That's why DEPED will strengthen the Senior High School Program for the future of students.
00:15That's the story of Noel Talacay.
00:18In 2021, Aliza finished K-12 or Senior High School.
00:23It took her 8 months to find a job.
00:26In my experience, it took her a long time to find a job after she graduated from K-12.
00:33She got a Technical Vocational Livelihood or TVL track in K-12.
00:37But she didn't use it because most of the applicants are college graduates or have a certificate from TESDA.
00:46There are still applicants who need to take ALS or TESDA.
00:50That's why she didn't choose a job.
00:53K-12 is still not connected to the work that I have now.
00:58According to an online article of the Philippine Business for Education or PBED in 2024,
01:04there are companies in the country that are accepting K-12 graduates.
01:09Based on their Job Outlook Survey, 4 out of 5 companies in the country are hiring senior high school graduates.
01:182 out of 5 companies are hiring senior high school graduates.
01:24But based on their studies, there are still companies that want to hire college graduates and have experience.
01:33In fact, 1 out of 5 companies in the country are accepting my work experience in an entry-level job.
01:41That's why this month, the Department of Education and Deaf-Ed helped stakeholders, private sector, and industry
01:50to strengthen the senior high school program and ensure that it is future-ready.
01:56In an article, Education Secretary Sani Angara stated that senior high school graduates should be able to get a job
02:06so that they can live well.
02:08The Alliance of Concerned Teachers called for the K-12 curriculum to be tailored to the needs of students
02:17for the development of the country's economy.
02:21Education Secretary Sani Angara emphasized that the goal of changing the senior high school program
02:27is to ensure that a student has a clear choice in the career that he wants to pursue
02:34and that he will have the ability to become a leader.
