00:00The Commission on Elections again cancelled the printing of ballots for the 2025 National and Local Elections because of the names of the candidates.

00:16The Commission on Elections again cancelled the printing of ballots for the 2025 National and Local Elections.

00:25This is after the two new temporary restraining orders were issued by the Supreme Court today and the two more names of the candidates were added.

00:34One is the senatorial candidate, Francis Leo Marcos, a vlogger, and a former senator during the 2022 elections.

00:43Marcos was declared a comm-elect, a nuisance candidate, in November.

00:48And the other is Noel Rosal, who is running for governor of Albay, who was disqualified by the comm-elect.

01:18The Supreme Court will need time to actually resolve their cases. It's really up to the comm-elect how they will implement the orders.

01:26We are not yet printing ballots and therefore if there will be a change again, we will comply definitely, wholeheartedly we will comply with the directive of the Supreme Court.

01:36Because the printing of ballots is no longer ongoing, the effect of this is a new delay for the comm-elect.

01:42But it's not a big deal for them because of the new data management system, the names of the candidates can be added.

01:50The target of the commission on Friday is to start printing again. They will finish the serialization and generation of ballot images immediately.

01:59We estimate that it will take two to three days. If there will be a change, for example, in two to three days, we can finish everything.

02:10The comm-elect is still confident that even if the printing of ballots is delayed, it will be finished on time and the date of the election will not be affected.

02:19The vote will continue on May 12.

02:22If there will be an adjustment, I hope that our printing will not exceed April 20.

02:27Because the most difficult thing is the deployment of all election paraphernalia in the most remote places.

02:33As of now, there are 13 pending petitions in the SC for the senatorial and local candidates.

02:39And there are also 22 for the party list, according to the Supreme Court.

02:43This is already included in their agenda or target to be decided.
