00:00What are the advantages of quantum communications?
00:04There are several advantages.
00:06For example, quantum communications can provide us with absolute security of encrypted communications.
00:12So we send the credit card number for an online purchase and no one can steal it,
00:16our medical data and so on.
00:18Quantum sensors will allow us to make great progress in medical diagnosis.
00:24For example, we can measure the activity of a single neuron in real time.
00:28Or for magnetic resonance, to have more and more precise images.
00:33Or, in the measure of time that is used in satellite navigation,
00:37to be able to have a precision of centimeters or even millimeters
00:41in knowing the position of a car, also for autonomous driving.
00:44And many others, in volcanology, for the measurement, for example,
00:48the prediction of eruptions and earthquakes.
00:51And, not least, the quantum calculation.
00:55So, with the possibility to greatly increase the computing power.
00:59This is something we are still working on.
01:02If we succeed, and it is quite unexpected that this happens,
01:05but if we succeed in overcoming all current challenges,
01:08this is something that could happen in the next 10 or 15 years,
01:12even accelerating the application of artificial intelligence.
