00:00Right here on the River Islands guest line. We've been excited for this all day.
00:04Logan Webb joins us here on Willard and Dibs on 95.7 The Game.
00:08Hey, Logan, what's going on, man?
00:10What's up, guys? How are you guys doing?
00:12We're doing good. We're excited to see you all play.
00:16But also, it's been an off-season where no matter who you root for,
00:23it's been a pain in the rear unless that answer is Dodgers.
00:27What do you think of all this that's going on?
00:31Yeah, I mean, you know, it's not like it's, you know, not allowed.
00:39So, I mean, obviously, when you got to play against these guys, it's not great.
00:46But, you know, they're just showing that they want to do everything they can to win.
00:52And, you know, they've done a great job at it this off-season.
00:55You've been incredibly motivated every start.
00:57We can see it just watching on TV or in person.
01:00Does this give you even a little bit more of a notch of motivation
01:04just to show them and show the world that, you know,
01:07they still have to be able to hit what you're throwing?
01:10Yeah, I mean, I go into every game feeling the same way.
01:14But there's always a little extra motivation when you play the Dodgers.
01:18And it's the same with the Dodgers and Padres, Diamondbacks,
01:22anyone in your division, you kind of get a little extra added motivation.
01:29But, yeah, definitely.
01:31And I grew up in Sacramento.
01:33I know all about the Dodger Giants rivalry.
01:36And, you know, I got a lot of friends on that team, I'm going to be honest with you.
01:41But, you know, I got a – it's exciting to be a part of.
01:46You know, I've been able to be a part of it.
01:48I got to play in a playoff series against those guys.
01:51Even that was even more amplified, and that was a blast.
01:54And I wish we would have won that one, but hopefully many more battles to come.
01:59Logan, can you put a little context to the tweet that you sent
02:02right after Sasaki announced that he was going to the Dodgers
02:06when you put the cartoon up and said time to play a little basketball
02:10and there was a cartoon of the Monstars from Space Jam?
02:14Does that mean exactly what we think it does?
02:17Yeah, I mean, I think I've joked around with a couple of our guys
02:22that signed there this offseason saying join the Monstars.
02:25And, you know, that's just how it is.
02:29You know, it's a great team.
02:32You know, the good thing about that movie is the Monstars lose,
02:35so hopefully that comes to fruition when the season comes around.
02:41But, yeah, it's just an incredibly talented team.
02:44I think all nine starting guys besides the new second baseman they got
02:49has been an all-star.
02:51All their pitchers have Cy Young capabilities,
02:55and so it's in their bullpen.
02:57It's just the whole team is very good.
03:00You know, you want to play against the best,
03:04so, you know, we get to do that four series of the year.
03:09So I look forward to that.
03:11Yeah, but not until June.
03:13I'm not sure, like schedule-wise, you don't play the Dodgers until then.
03:17But as an amateur screenwriter, I'm already crafting a movie called
03:22Base Jam that involves your Giants against the Dodgers.
03:26So if you can go ahead and handle your business,
03:29maybe you could be the star of my movie Base Jam, Logan.
03:32That sounds good.
03:35Logan Webb joining us here on 95.7 The Game.
03:39Logan, did I catch, I don't want to, like I'm not great necessarily
03:44with being able to figure out exactly what sound effect I just heard,
03:47but did I hear maybe the new baby is somewhere right next to you?
03:51Yeah, I'm sitting right next to her.
03:53How's it all going, man?
03:55It's been great.
03:57You know, every day, everyone always says they change so fast,
04:00and it's so true.
04:02It seems like she's changed every day for the three and a half months
04:06right now, so it's been a blast.
04:08You know, we just got to go to, we went to Disneyland for the weekend
04:12and, you know, getting to see her, see the princesses
04:15and Dutchman, Mickey, and Minnie.
04:17It was a really cool experience.
04:19What about you as a father?
04:21Like what has been the most eye-opening thing for you?
04:26You know, it's kind of cliche to say this,
04:29but it just kind of changes your life, honestly.
04:32You know, a little extra motivation to, you know, to get your stuff done.
04:37I don't know how to explain it.
04:39It's just a weird thing that happens, and that's exactly what happened.
04:43You know, I keep thinking about the season,
04:46and she's going to be getting older, so being able to come out after a game
04:50or something and see her smile and give her a hug and kiss,
04:53I'm looking forward to that.
04:55Yeah, it's incredible.
04:57I have a two-and-a-half-year-old, so I'm kind of close to where you are,
05:00which makes me think about my next question,
05:03which is what's the diaper scouting report breakdown?
05:06Like what percentage of diapers, because it's the off-season,
05:10and you can be all up in there.
05:12What's the diaper percentage breakdown between you and your partner?
05:16I would say I'm probably like 15%.
05:19I'm going to be honest with you.
05:21That's fair.
05:22I still got to go to the workout and do all this stuff.
05:25But, yeah, I would say it's 15%.
05:28That's good honesty right there.
05:30Yeah.
05:31That's great.
05:32I mean, you know, and do you know how to swaddle and all that stuff?
05:35Oh, yeah.
05:36You kind of have to learn on the fly.
05:38You know, you watch these videos and do all this stuff.
05:41I think I messed up a couple times early on, but you get used to it.
05:44Now it's like taking a walk.
05:47Hey, let's talk a little Giants baseball.
05:50What are your thoughts on the off-season and what may still unfold?
05:57Yeah, I mean, you get a guy like Willie in here to start the off-season,
06:01it's great.
06:02I'm happy I don't have to face that guy anymore.
06:04He kind of owns me a little bit.
06:07So I'm excited to have him here.
06:10You know, I think that's a young talent that's really going to take some steps,
06:15hopefully, and, you know, get to see Fitzy play every day at second base.
06:20And, obviously, you got Chappie still.
06:23But, yeah, I think that's a great start.
06:27And, obviously, you get Justin.
06:30You know, I think that one kind of speaks for himself, right?
06:33Justin Verlander, I think it's three-time Cy Young Award winner,
06:39MVP, two World Series.
06:43So I'm going to pick his brain.
06:47You know, hopefully these young guys do exactly the same as I do.
06:51And I'm just excited to get to know him and meet him.
06:54And, hopefully, you know, I think Robbie's played with him before,
06:59says he's a great dude.
07:00And I'm just excited to get to meet him and see him.
07:04Without commenting on the predecessor,
07:06how nice is it to have Buster Posey as the new president of Baseball Ops,
07:11somebody who's actually been in the squad and been on the diamond and played?
07:16Yeah, I think he has a different perspective, I think,
07:19than most front office people do.
07:23I know there's a couple former players that have done this,
07:27but I don't think they have the – and I could be wrong,
07:31but I feel like most GMs or president of baseball operations
07:34don't have the same pedigree that Buster does.
07:38And I've been – I was lucky enough to play with him,
07:41and, you know, I've gotten to talk to him a couple times this offseason.
07:44So I'm excited.
07:46You know, I think he wants to get back to kind of the brand of baseball
07:50that we played when we were winning, and I look forward to that.
07:55Hey, Logan, in all the simulated and spring training stuff that you guys do,
07:59have you had a chance to face Bryce Eldridge?
08:02And if so, what's your scouting report?
08:05I have not.
08:06Okay.
08:08I probably will get the chance early in spring.
08:12Yeah, I mean, just watching him from afar.
08:15You know, last year I got to know him a little bit right before –
08:19during this time they do camps and stuff,
08:23the minor league complex,
08:25and just talking to him last year, kind of asking him his goals.
08:28And I think one of his goals last year was just to get to high A
08:31and have a good time this year, and he ended up making a triple A.
08:34And, you know, that's just the first thing –
08:37I saw him last week for the first time,
08:39and I think the first thing he said was that the offseason was too long.
08:44You don't hear many guys saying that.
08:45So that's – when you hear that,
08:50you just know he's excited to get here and get going again.
08:53And, you know, so I'm working with Mr. Woteth yesterday, taking ground balls,
08:59and I'm just excited for him.
09:01He's a great kid and sky's the limit with all the ability.
09:05And, you know, hopefully we do see him.
09:07You know, I'll get to be around him in spring,
09:09but hopefully get to see him on the big show later this year.
09:15Yeah, I mean, I think we all remember when you were a prospect coming up.
09:21You were a name that we heard before you got here and all of that stuff.
09:25Maybe not to this level.
09:26He's only 20 years old and now being told that he's the next big thing.
09:31But your perspective on what he's facing with that kind of attention and pressure.
09:38Yeah, I mean, I don't think I've ever –
09:41I never had that attention when I was in the minor league.
09:45So I don't really know.
09:46I think a good guy to ask would be Kyle.
09:49You know, Kyle has dealt with –
09:51Yeah.
09:52You know, he's been one left-handed pitching prospect in baseball.
09:54And, you know, I know he's not satisfied with how he started, which is kind of BS.
10:02I think he's done great.
10:03And he's only going to keep getting better.
10:04But, you know, I think it is different when there's a lot more pressure on you.
10:10But some guys thrive in it.
10:12And I think Bryce will be that type of guy.
10:14And I think Kyle is going to keep being that guy.
10:17So it's exciting for me.
10:19I mean, you know, I had a little different path.
10:23I had to – I went to short season twice.
10:25And, you know, I spent a lot of time in high A.
10:28And one level I really didn't spend in was triple A.
10:31So he's – I mean, I think he spent a month in each place last year.
10:35So he was moving all around.
10:36I mean, I've never really seen a guy move up that fast.
10:40But he deserved everything.
10:42I mean, everywhere he went he killed it.
10:44And I think he's just going to keep doing that.
10:48I think, like I said, I think he's got the right mentality.
10:51He's a great kid.
10:52And, you know, he looks bigger right now, which he's 6'7".
10:58Right.
11:01So it's – yeah, I mean, I'm super excited for him.
11:05Obviously try to get to know him even more during the season.
11:08And we've got a great group of position player guys too
11:12that will kind of take him under the wing – under their wings.
11:15And I'll let them do that.
11:19I'll stick with my young pitchers.
11:21And hopefully I won't have to do all the dirty work.
11:26Maybe I'll let Justin do all that this year.
11:28Yeah, Logan Webb here on 95.7 The Game.
11:30And as you know, Logan, these babies, these kids, they change every day.
11:34So by the time Bryce gets to camp, he might actually be 6'8".
11:38I mean, considering what your daughter is going through.
11:42When you look at your staff, and I love that you're, you know,
11:44looking at it from a mentor standpoint.
11:47And, of course, Justin Verlander comes in as an OG.
11:50But you look at these young arms,
11:52and does it give you a lot of excitement about what could be
11:55your real difference maker in the division
11:58to have so many good young starting pitchers?
12:02Yeah, I think – you know, I think playing for the Giants,
12:05I think in its history, I mean, you win by playing defense and pitching well.
12:11So we kind of know that.
12:14And I think we kind of got a little chip on our shoulders.
12:18I think a lot of us that are here last year
12:21weren't too happy with how we played last year.
12:25And I think, you know, we all take our bumps.
12:28I think especially as a young guy, we had a lot of young guys,
12:31guys that I'm super excited about.
12:34You know, Harry Birdsong, Rupi, Mason Black.
12:39You know, I know Carson Wisenhunt is working his tail off.
12:41Like, there's a lot of young pitchers in there.
12:44And I think one of the messages early on will be, you know, it takes more than –
12:51I saw a stat, actually.
12:53I think it was last year.
12:54But the last time it was only five starting pitchers
12:57that lasted throughout the whole season.
12:59Like the year 2000.
13:00So, you know, it takes more than five guys.
13:04So it's going to be a lot of us throughout the season.
13:06And so I hope they know that.
13:09And, you know, it's tough sometimes when you –
13:12if you go to camp and, you know, you get sent down early or something happens.
13:16But, you know, I look at Ramos last year.
13:20I think Ramos was part of the first cut and ended up being an all-star.
13:23So things happen.
13:25Hopefully these guys just come in.
13:26I've seen a lot of them already.
13:28Looks like they're all ready to go.
13:30Bullpens look great.
13:31They all look like they didn't, you know, eat their way through the offseason.
13:36So it's always good.
13:38There's always cliché.
13:40You're going to hear it a million times.
13:42Everyone's in the best shape of their lives.
13:44Best offseason yet.
13:45Everyone says it.
13:48But it's true.
13:49I think a lot of these guys – a lot of these guys look really ready.
13:53And I'm just excited for them.
13:55Logan Webb joining us here.
13:56Willard and Dibs, 95-7 the game.
13:58Logan, the producers found something online,
14:00and everybody's buzzing about it here.
14:02They want to know.
14:04The internet says you're legally blind.
14:06Is that true?
14:08Yeah, without my contacts in, I can see two feet in front.
14:12I couldn't be – my little daughter right here wouldn't be a blur to me.
14:17And that happened early that you dealt with this?
14:21Yeah.
14:22It was actually when I was – I think it was like 10 or 11,
14:25I started just telling my parents that I couldn't see as well,
14:30and my parents noticed it.
14:31So, worn contacts since I was, like I said, I think 10 or 11 years old.
14:37Yeah, in the mornings it's rough when I wake up, can't see a thing.
14:42Will your contacts be in at 7 o'clock tonight when the Warriors play the Kings?
14:48Oh, yeah, 8 o'clock here in Arizona.
14:50Oh, okay, in Arizona.
14:51Yeah.
14:52How do you feel about seven of their last nine since the coaching change, Logan?
15:01Yeah, you know, I was – you know, I know a couple people,
15:05I thought Mike did a great job.
15:08You know, I think as a Kings fan, you know, I got friends and buddies,
15:12they're all mad at me because I was saying that was a dumb move
15:15and all this stuff.
15:17But, you know, they brought us our first playoffs in, I don't know, 20 years,
15:21and who knows, it might have been the right choice.
15:25I mean, they've been playing pretty well.
15:28You know, it's a group of – I love watching them play right now.
15:32They're running again.
15:33They're doing all the good stuff.
15:36You know, seeing Malik in the starting lineup has been awesome.
15:39So, it's been fun to watch every game, and hopefully tonight's another good game.
15:46And in your mind, is the Warrior dynasty just a complete thing of the past?
15:52I don't think so.
15:53I mean, anytime you got Steph Curry on your team or Drayvon Green,
15:56I think you're still going to be fine.
16:00I know it's – they got a lot of young guys too.
16:03So, you know, I think Steph had a – I kind of saw his quote the other day saying,
16:10can't panic now, and I think that's true.
16:13I mean, at the point it wasn't even halfway through the season yet.
16:15I know – I think they just reached halfway, right?
16:18Am I correct?
16:19Yep.
16:20Just passed, yes.
16:21So, I mean, the Kings on Christmas, if you would have said the Kings would be in the 7 or 8 seed,
16:26you probably would have laughed at me.
16:29So, I feel like basketball runs happen.
16:31You win, you know, six or seven in a row or seven out of nine, and crazy things happen.
16:39So, I don't – like I said, as long as you have those two guys kind of running the show,
16:44I think you'll be all right.
16:46Logan, we'll let you get back to fatherhood in a moment,
16:48but we've got to have some fun on the way out the door with our big finish.
16:51Are you ready to go?
16:52Yep.
16:53Okay, let's hit it.
16:54Logan, two categories.
16:57You pick one.
16:58Do you want to do Sacramento Kings or Logan's Web?
17:05Let's do Logan's Web.
17:06Logan's Web.
17:07Okay.
17:08Are you afraid of spiders?
17:10Definitely afraid of spiders.
17:12You are?
17:13What happens when a spider pops up in your homestead or in the clubhouse?
17:18Are you a jump-on-the-table guy, or do you go up with a napkin and try to scoop and score?
17:24I do the napkin.
17:25I usually make my wife do it at home.
17:27Wow.
17:28No, I'm just kidding.
17:29I'm kidding.
17:30I'm kidding.
17:33No, I get the napkin scoop and score.
17:37Are you a catch-and-release guy, or is it going to be a smash and flush?
17:41Smash.
17:42I mean, I make sure that thing's not moving anymore.
17:45That's fair.
17:46Yeah.
17:47Baseball cleats.
17:48My ex-wife was a catch-and-release, and she didn't like spiders, but no judgment either way.
17:53Question number two, how do you spend your time on the worldwide Logan Web?
18:01Are you saying, like, what do I do on the internet?
18:04Like, do you watch shows?
18:06Are you on social media?
18:08Get out of there with that question.
18:10Do you, like, Google best way to swaddle a three-month-old?
18:14Like, when you go on the web, what are you doing?
18:17Honestly, it's a lot of sports.
18:20There's a lot of sports that I watch.
18:23Big Bleacher Report, looking up stuff.
18:28I go on Twitter X or whatever it is for good laughs.
18:32The internet's undefeated always.
18:34Yep, yep.
18:36And then I dabble.
18:38I look at TikTok every once in a while.
18:40I think it was gone for, what, 24 hours?
18:43Yeah, 12 hours.
18:44It was terrifying.
18:45Yeah.
18:46What did you do with yourself?
18:47Right?
18:48Yeah.
18:49I don't know.
18:50My sister-in-law was panicking.
18:52She was not alone.
18:55All right, last one.
18:57If you could be a superhero, who would you be, and would it be Spider-Man?
19:01I think it's got to be Spider-Man.
19:05Yeah, I mean, I think Tom Holland made Spider-Man cool again.
19:11I mean, it was always cool, but I think he,
19:13in these last couple Marvel ones, I think he made it cool again.
19:16So I'm going to go Spider-Man.
19:17You're saying the Tobey Maguire era,
19:19which is a little bit earlier than when you were watching it,
19:22but maybe a little bit too much of a soft Spider-Man?
19:26No, no, no.
19:28That's not to where I watched Spider-Man growing up.
19:31The Andrew Garfield one was great, too.
19:33I just think the new Marvel one, they made it a little cooler.
19:37He got to work with Tony Stark, got some cool new outfit,
19:43and I think that was cool.
19:46I think he made it cool again.
19:47Logan Webb with some serious Spider-Man knowledge.
19:49Great answers.
19:50Hey, bonus question on the way out the door.
19:52Why did you choose number 62?
19:54I didn't.
19:56Oh.
19:57I didn't choose number 62.
19:59That's what was given to me.
20:00I give Brad Grimm some crap every once in a while for that.
20:04But that was the one that was given to me when I got called up,
20:09and I think he asked me again after, I think it was like 2021,
20:14but I had to, I think you're supposed to pay for the ones that have been sold.
20:18And at that point, I think we were all invested in 62.
20:22So I just kept it and kind of, you know, I think I got to keep with that.
20:28Yeah.
20:29Yeah, I mean, come on.
20:31If it's not broke, don't fix it.
20:33Hey, Logan, thank you for spending some time with us.
20:36Congrats on fatherhood.
20:39Thank you for coming on.
20:40Yeah, of course.
20:41Thanks for having me.
