00:00I am excited about every film and every new project.
00:15When a new kid is about to come home, the house is filled with happiness.
00:21I am an actor and a producer at different levels.
00:33Production has become my new profession now.
00:38If I hadn't done Delhi Files today, I would have been doing some other film.
00:42I will continue films after this.
00:45Delhi Files is not the end of my career.
00:49Yes, it is the end of the trilogy.
00:52But I will continue producing films.
00:54Hopefully, I will continue to get such excitement.
01:04When I did both things together for the first time, I found it a little difficult.
01:10But with years of experience, I think I have become very flawless.
01:18Since I have been producing films for so many years, I have a very good production team.
01:26Very good professionals work with me.
01:31When I am acting, I don't have any production problems.
01:39I don't have any worries.
01:42I can purely concentrate on my acting.
01:44And thanks to my team for that.
01:49I don't think anyone is easy.
01:56Even they face a lot of difficulties with me.
02:00When you come from two different families, there is only one bond between you two.
02:12There is a lot of love and respect for each other.
02:19There is a lot of trust and faith in each other.
02:24It evolves with the stages.
02:27But it is that bond that keeps you together.
02:30There are always fights.
02:32He is always difficult.
02:34I am always difficult.
02:36On sets, Vivek is a very cooperative director.
02:47If actors get such a director, then...
02:52You must have seen in our films, how each actor performs.
02:58They put so much faith in their actors.
03:03They give you 100% scope to do the characterisation without meddling.
03:20There are two things.
03:22I have been in this profession for many years.
03:26I have been working since childhood.
03:29I had this knowledge.
03:33If your film doesn't do well, people will say bad things about you.
03:42In the age of social media, people say it directly.
03:47This is also a phase.
03:50If you start stressing yourself with negative comments,
03:57then you will never do a good job.
04:00Positive energy should rule within you.
04:06Positive energy will always defeat negative energy.
04:10I never let go of my positivity.
04:12Neither do my children nor Vivek.
04:14We do what we have to do.
04:16We don't get bothered.
04:18We don't get swayed by whoever is saying whatever.
04:21Because we know what we are doing.
04:24As long as we are doing it right, there is no fear in doing it.
04:34I don't think it's going to serve any purpose to talk about backlash.
04:42If there is going to be backlash, then there will be.
04:44If the film has to run, then it has to run.
04:47Since we are shooting, our first priority is
04:52that whatever script comes in front of us,
04:55whatever research comes in front of us,
04:57a beautiful film has been written on the basis of that.
05:02Every department should complete that film with 100% honesty.
05:09After the shooting of the film is over,
05:11what should be its marketing and strategy,
05:15what will happen, all these things are for later.
05:19No matter how much we think,
05:22that we won't let this happen, we won't let that happen,
05:25every film has its own destiny.
05:27Whatever is in this film's destiny, that will definitely happen.
05:30But we will always be satisfied with one thing,
05:35that we didn't let even 1% of our work be less.
05:40We have done our work honestly, 100%.
05:43And if you have this satisfaction,
05:45then it is said that belief can move mountains.
05:55I call my time the good old Doordarshan days,
05:58because we used to do weeklies then.
06:00Very good shows used to come.
06:02We had progressive women.
06:04We have seen shows like Rajini,
06:08we have seen shows like Mrignayani,
06:10we have seen Bharat Ek Khoch,
06:12we have seen Buniyat,
06:14we have seen shows like Air Hostess.
06:18There were very good shows.
06:20I did a show called Alpaviram,
06:24it was all about women empowerment,
06:27strength of women.
06:29But since the daily soap has started,
06:32kitchen politics,
06:34and one woman pulling another woman down,
06:37television has become a monster,
06:40which has to be fed 24x7.
06:42There should be sensationalism everywhere.
06:45If there is sensationalism in your news,
06:48then imagine how much sensationalism
06:50there is in drama shows.
06:52There is an organization called BCCC,
06:55which is the Broadcasting Complaints Corporation.
07:01They send complaints to the audience of television.
07:05I can't tell you what kind of complaints they send.
07:08It hurts me to see where we have come to.
07:13Some say it has become Hindu-centric,
07:17some say you have called a caste by name.
07:25Sometimes I feel like writing a book on television
07:28and call it Obituary.
07:30Sharminegal was like a father figure to me.
07:33I have learnt a lot from her.
07:35I spent my early days with her.
07:42She has made a big contribution in my life.
07:45Whatever I am today,
07:47whatever thoughts I have,
07:49the kind of work I do,
07:51the kind of films I choose,
07:53the kind of characters I like,
07:55the kind of people I meet,
07:57the kind of films I choose,
07:59the kind of characters I like,
08:01I owe it all to him.
08:03In fact, there are two people
08:05who I consider my mentors.
08:07One was Sharminegal,
08:09and the other person is Amol Palekar.
08:17I don't know what to say.
08:19I feel very empty without him.
08:21He should have been there.
08:23He still had a lot to give to the industry.
08:27He should have been there.
08:32My emotions are depleting.
08:36I am almost out of poetry.
08:41The environment is such
08:43that interpersonal relations
08:45have become transactional.
08:49Transactions don't have
08:51any place for emotions.
08:54I feel that
08:56because we have a medium
08:58like a film,
09:00we can reintroduce
09:02emotions into the society
09:04through it.
09:06And we have to do it.
