Derren Howard and Henry Bryant discuss Fabian Hurzeler's Brighton pre-match press conference as Albion finds themselves home to Everton this weekend in the Premier League.
Transcript
00:00Yes guys, how's it going? I'm Henry Bryant and I'm joined with Darren Howard and we've
00:04both just been to the pre-match press conference as Brighton are set to take on Everton in
00:09a Premier League clash. So Darren, can you talk us through some of the team news and
00:14any injuries that Brighton have got?
00:16Yeah, it's a bit of a blow actually for Brighton. There's skipper Lewis Dunk who's struggled
00:21with calf injuries this season. He's looking as though he's going to miss the game with
00:26what was described as a small muscle issue, separate from the calf issues he's had previously.
00:32Which is a blow because he played quite well in the game against Manchester United and
00:36they're a bit short in defensive areas with obviously Igor Julio. He's struggling with
00:40his hamstring still. He's going to be out for the rest of the season. Adam Webster's
00:44had some injury issues this year so they're left with Jean-Paul van Gecke and Adam Webster
00:49is their only recognised centre-half. So there could be a potential movement in the transfer
00:54window between now and the end of the window to try and resolve that issue. Matt O'Reilly,
01:00he's struggling as well. He's looking as though he's going to miss out with a knee injury.
01:05And then there's no further updates as well on the likes of Ferdie Cadioglou as well.
01:11I think he's going to miss out as well. James Milner's still out with his hamstring issue.
01:16So yeah, it's not really easing that much although Jack Hinchwood will hopefully be
01:20coming back and Brian Gruder will hopefully come back for this one as well.
01:24And in terms of transfer news, another out going for the Albioners and Sisso seems to
01:29be moving to Ipswich now on a season-long or half-season low-nil. What have you made
01:36of that and what was Fabian Hösler saying about that sort of thing?
01:39Yeah, I think it could be quite a good move for him. He was struggling to get minutes
01:42at Brighton. He played a bit more recently. He's been more in and around the first-team
01:46picture. He scored in the four-nil victory in the third round of the FA Cup tie at Norwich
01:52which I'm sure will please a lot of Ipswich fans where he's going to. And yeah, I think
01:57it's a sensible move. He would get Premier League experience in a team that are really
02:03fighting for their lives. So every game is going to mean something for him. So it's going
02:07to be a good move for him. He's going to be in a pressurised situation which I think Brighton
02:10quite like and he's going to really have to perform for Ipswich. So a good move all-round
02:15I think.
02:17One final one. Is Karl Rushworth coming back recalled from loan at Hull City? And a bit
02:24of an issue for Jason Steele who's got some surgery.
02:29Yeah, shame for Jason Steele. He's been such a reliable number two. Obviously, Bart Verbruggen
02:34has been the main man between the sticks for Fabian Hösler. But in the press conference
02:39just now, Hösler was saying what a great player that Steele is to have. The environment
02:45that he helps to create in the team. So missing him will be a blow but he said he's got 100%
02:49faith in Karl Rushworth. England under-21 goalkeeper. Had a great loan at Swansea last
02:54season. Tipped for big things. Had his injury problems at Hull but he's fully fit now and
02:59he'll take his place on the bench to face Everton this weekend.
03:03Perfect. Cheers Darren. And for all the latest coverage for that game and more, please check
